Corbin vs Mustang
« on: May 11, 2014, 10:24:27 AM »

I know there are other threads on seats, But I never can seem to find a good comparison from people who actually have both seats. Looking for all day comfort between Mustang and Corbin Thanks For the help   Billy

Started with a Mustang moved over to Corbin, went back to a Mustang.  Corbin looks better but Mustang you can ride all day.

Started with AE Mustang moved over to Corbin, went back to a Mustang.  Corbin looks better but Mustang you can ride all day.

I have the exact opposite experience. I have a Corbin DualTour and a Mustang Super Touring Wide Vintage... both with built-in back rests.

The Mustang is cushier, but the Corbin offers better support. I have taken all-day rides on both seats. The Mustang is comfy for the first few hours, but by the end of the day my backside is screaming for mercy. Not so on the Corbin... after an all-day ride on it, my backside feels fine. I frequently have to adjust position on the Mustang, but I hardly ever have to move on the Corbin.

I only use the Mustang on two-up trips, because the rear seat on the Mustang is MUCH better for the BSR.... Wide, soft, and supportive. The rear seat of the Corbin is relatively narrow, hard, and actually slopes forward a bit, making the BSR slide forward often.

I think the Corbin is also a much better-looking seat than the Mustang.

In the past,  I have had both on Tour models.  The Corbin is (genuine leather) and harder than the Mustang.  The Mustang is (not) real leather and is somewhat softer.  I would give the nod to the Mustang on a long (several hours) trip.  My azz was hurting big time a few years ago on an all day ride to the 100 year HD event in Milwaukee.  While there,  I bought a gel pad for the return trip which saved my azz............ :drink:

Have always gone with Mustang, to be honest after riding all day your butt will hurt no matter what kind of seat you use!!

My vote is for the Mustang. Corbin is too hard for my taste. I have owned both and currently have a Mustang.

Why spend all that money on a new seat when you can have you current seat modified to your satisfaction for a fraction of the cost.
If you like the way a Corbin or Mustang seat look go for it, but if your looking for comfort, there are several aftermarket companies who will taylor your seat to your needs.
I had my CVO seat modified with different foam, re-formed the back part of the seat, put gel underneath the foam, for $150.00, had several guys borrow my seat and rode their bikes, and say this is what I needed. I'm not selling my vendor, but it was worth it.
Only extra cost were I rode about 80 miles each way with friends, went to a nice greasy spoon for lunch and a better ride back home with a new feeling seat!

I have a Corbin Classic Solo and can ride 15 hr days without my butt hurting.  When I first got on it, I thought "man this thing is too stiff to be comfortable", boy was I wrong.  Once it's broke in, you'll have nothing else.

Let us not forget as we ponder this question of seat comfort on looooooooooooooooong rides.   I happen to have what several ladies have described as a "cute butt".  While I'm happy to have the ladies enjoying the view of my back side,  that also means my azz is (normal sized).  That doesn't equate to long distance comfort on a hard bike seat.   Some may have a "lard azz" and no matter what,  they can keep on keeping on.............................. :nervous:

my Corbin feels the same after 10 minutes or 10 hours. I guess its because its so firm the foam doesn't break down.

Don't forget to consider dimensions when evaluating comfort. Some push you forward, some to the back. Do they maintain factory height or do they raise or lower you.  Suggest you factor that into your decision.
