BIG RANT!!!  So we takin a tip to NM and AZ, 8 days.  So twice before this I've loaded mapsource (Garmin) .gpx files for overnighter rides and they loaded fine, found the restaurants and hotels FINE. Tried to load the mapsource .gpx file for this long trip that had 9 routes trimmed to 6 waypoints in each route and the dang thing kept givin me message can't query database.  When I go to import data all the waypoint and trips show up on the screen and check select all,or check select one point and try to import and same dang message.  Long story short on the Mother Ships tech help line and the service tech say the ONLY way to load anything into infotainment is thru Harley Ride Planner.  I tell him about the two previous loaded fine etc., same story only Ride Planner works.  The ONLY  way I could get the trip on my bike was to load the routes on the Garmin 665, import them (one a time only!) to Ride Planner, then export them as .gpx file to my PC, then load them on the thumb and import them to bike.  EVERY route was named hdRoute 1-9 .gpx and the saved file was a mapsource iconed file.  The whole Ride Planner thing is a Garmin based app to get routes to the Harley tech GPS's.  So all 9 routes loaded and most waypoints it found, but funny thing is every hotel that wasn't a Best western showed as end point and no contact info like in the mapsource file.  I go back to the Ride Planner map and try to find the hotels and add as a waypoint and guess what Ride planners POI's only show Best Western, and nobody else!  In closing the Ride Planner program SUX compared to even Basecamp (which I hate), have a service ticket issue with Milwaukee, leave Friday on 8 day trip and hope it gets me there.  My four buddies have Garmin 665 and so I'm the tailgunner and will follow them.  This should be an easy fix for them to allow any .gpx to read/load on our bikes!  I did it twice already!   Rant now officially over
Ride Safe,

Sorry you had to find out the hard way that the built in GPS in the Infotainment system is not very good as a touring GPS and will never be.

Tons of information on this not only on this site but every other HD site.

The problem is the 9 way point limit, ride planner is not that good when it comes to planning routes. The GPS chokes when trying to import multiple routes, done even try.

Your better off buying the adapter cable and installing your 660 on your bike.

The 9 waypoint thing I could live with.  All they gotta do is change some code so it'll accept any .gpx file not just ones named hdRoute.gpx.  It took all 9 routes and I had the bike calculate each one of 'em and the routes all loaded.  Hopefully the POI's on the NAV are better than Ride Planner POI's.  Will know a bunch more a week from Friday  :beerchug:

It's krapp.  10 years behind modern technology, and utterly useless as a touring GPS.
