question about pipes on my 2014 rkcvo....
« on: May 12, 2014, 10:13:51 AM »

hi !
I change my stock exhausts for a pair of supertrapp se series with paul yaffe afterburner ends but ... I am not completely satisfied. I think they are too small for the space under the cases and also too shorts ... I want to change for 4" or 4,5" inches but I wonder which ones are the best for me : I live in Paris ( a big city in France  ;) ) and I want a deep and low rumble but not too loud because here cops are not very fond of harley's music.
I consider also to install a power duals after...

What do you think about CFR, about Vance hi output, or ... another ?

Thanks by advance for your advices...!

Hi Tiger
I have changed my exhaust from stock to v&h power dual headers and monster round mufflers and they meet both my criteria both in looks and sound(it now sounds as a Harley should IMHO) but although I think it is plenty loud enough (I want to be able to hear my tunes whilst touring!) it certainly barks when on the gas!!! but each to his own there are much louder pipes out there...
regards
Paul

I think you have the wrong supertrapps.  Consider the Stouts. Great sound yet low decibel.  If you remove the cats, use the early Stout version (2009). With a tune you'll also have a nice HP/TQ increase. With my FLHRSE5 I got 95/112.  kr

Hi Tiger,
I had the cfr knock offs on my 2013 Street glide with the cat still on, they had a nice deep sound, plenty of bark but not obnoxiously loud. They were 4" at the exit which was a nice look for the back end.
I think they cost me $180.00 brand new, got a deal on eBay.
Good luck and ride safe.

I have the supertrapp stouts.  Sound is pretty subjective so here is what I think…they clearly are deep such that you know you are on a harley, but they are pretty quiet until you roll on the throttle. A combination I appreciate.  If stock is 93 dB, Supertrapp stouts are supposedly 95.6 while the Kerker stouts are 97.9. So that is a personal preference. What I can say with certainty, the quality of the chrome...and the beauty of the end caps...are exceptional.   kr

Thanks guys ! Paul Yaffe...when I see his happy smile when he runs a big great bagger with an F-16 noise  :bananarock: I think these monsta ' are fairly too loud for me...but you're right the style is perfect. As I say I live in Paris the city of lights but not of  sound...cops here are very very angry about Motorcycles noises...so I must choose a very difficult balance between style perfs sound ...not easy. Some choose here the way of special tuning valves like Akrapovic (too weird) or Jekyll & Hyde or Kess Tech but they are far more pricey !   So the choice is running between Monster Rounds V&H and certainly SuperTrapp stouts 4" with black end cap...

Yesterday I made a run in Paris with almost 40 bikes and many Harleys and I could hear CFR on a cvo road glide : outch ! very loud :) but I ve heard also monster rounds and ... they sounds really great. Finally many riders make some good large sound and .. it's great  :D So I think I would consider now the "Roadbling combo" !
