Mastertune Updates
« on: May 16, 2014, 09:49:42 PM »

We have released a new set of updates today and there are some changes being made, so I'm letting you all know. Windows has started to drop more and more of older commands, now that they have stopped supporting Window XP version. What this means is some pieces of software that you own may or maynot work properly anymore with the latest round of updates that microsoft push out on all of us over the past month. This round of updates for us changes to newer type commands where we needed to to replace the older ones that will no longer work. The writing is on the walls people and it's time to move away from using Windows XP any longer. IMHO Microsoft is making an effort to get everyone to replace there old PC's one way of the other.

In these new versions, we also moved where we stored the files on the PC to be more inline with Mastertune2 by default. So your path's will be updated to the new locations but you can still move them back to the old setting if you wish. Your also going to see the new locations filled in by the updater with all the calibrations from here on out so it would be best for you to get use to them how they are now. The products still work the same and have a few new features as we get ready for the next round of new stuff we are already in testing with now. :)

If anyone see's a new issue please let us know as some of these fixes for old commands may work slightly different for some old PC's running Windows XP.

Steve,

My Dell Laptop running XP is due for an upgrade.  (We an Apple family and I maintain a windows machine solely for TTS Mastertune)

Can you recommend a laptop and OS that has known solid compatibility with TTS Mastertune and my USB connector?

Thanks,

Mal

If you have an Apple laptop, why don't you install Apple BootCamp and get the best of both worlds?

At this point in time I really have no brand of machine that we recommend as better than any other. We are moving everything in house to Windows 7 and will know a little better in the future how they work out. What I can say is machines that were built to run on XP, suck when you install Windows 7. I've tried it on the two laptops that I work with and thank god I just replaced the hard drive and put Windows 7 on the new drives. The new drives lasted less than one day before I took them out and went back to XP drives. So with that said, you can see why I am warning you all.

Or Parallels.  I use that, myself.  That way both Windows and Mac OSX are running together.

I'd have to buy the Windows OS to run on the second Boot Partition... Windows laptops are cheap enough that I'd prefer to just have a dedicated laptop for TTS Mastertune.

My only issue with Parallels is it adds a layer between the USB and the TTS.  I know that when I purchased the TTS, it was recommended to purchase their cables due to compatibility issues.  Do you use Parallels with the TTS?  If you do, then I can assume it does not have issues?

Yup, I use Parallels with TTS.  As a matter of fact, I have migrated 100% of my other programs away from Windows, so TTS is my sole reason for maintaining Windows.

Edit to add:  I do have the TTS cables.  When you first plug it in with Windows running, it asks if the newly attached device should be recognized in OSX or Windows, and gives you the option of making that a permanent solution.  The one and only issue I have is that Windows, which I ahve no password for, will ask me to renew my password every once in a while.  I give it no password and it goes on.  Obviously, this is not a TTS issue, but Windoze.

I just purchased a new Dell desktop for all tuning softwares for the dyno. They are available on the Dell website and I recommend Windows 7 Professional. If you go to Best Buy or the likes, all of the OS systems are Windows 8 and they still have a lot of bugs and updates they are doing with the 8 version. I do not recommend 8. Windows 7 Pro is the best option at this point in my opinion. Steve, I got your messages and I have just been very, very busy tuning bikes lately and figured out the question I had for you so thats why you never heard back from me. I do very much appreciate your follow up phone calls however and I may call you soon to get one of the 4 channel analog boxes from you.  :2vrolijk_21:

My $158 refurbished Dell Inspiron 15" with Windows 8 works perfectly with TTS but did require downloading some drivers and getting the right cable.

Now I'm just hoping V-tune3 comes available sometime before I die.

In case you're taking requests for V-Tune 3, add Bluetooth and some software that will let me use it from my iPhone.

Did the latest updates when they came out, today I went to check a datamaster vtune file and found the folder empty? Thought that's strange and went into the calibrations in mastertune and all my non stock cals were gone? Did I miss something in the update warnings?
