The remainder of this day would be visiting the sights from the bike and arriving in Portland, ME late evening.

Day Sixteen | Portland, Maine – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | 480 miles

So the plan was to leave Portland and head straight home!  Gas and go!  However!  After passing for the exit to Philadelphia an idea was hatched!  Let’s go to Philly and have a cheesesteak!    In addition one of the krewe grew up there and knew of all of the places to go.

We turned around and went!

It seemed appropriate that my last real experience would be here!  The Rocky Steps!   :mango:

There are 72 steps to climb and/or run to get to the top.  I choose to run them just as Rocky did.  An underdog rising to the challenge.

While my journey would be coming to an end here, my challenge would continue and I look forward to taking more of it on.

Day Seventeen | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Richmond, Virginia | 325 miles

Today I would be spending time visiting the areas part of my krewe experienced growing up.  We would continue to enjoy the food, stories of childhood and fellowship.  A wonderful time that was highly personal.

Day Eighteen | Richmond, Virginia – Savannah, Georgia | 500 miles

Gas and go would be the best description of this day.

Another wonderful experience and blessed to have had the opportunity.  It was nice to be in a country where the citizens engage in conversation, do not live on their cell phones and just take life as it comes.  I felt relaxed the whole time and at peace.

My trip odometer would read ~ 5,555 miles and it was worth every mile of it!
