Written by a guy who is also a big conspiracy nut. Emphasis on nut.
Every place where cars are built, there are large lots where the finished products sit awaiting shipment by rail or truck. Every place where cars are imported or exported, there are huge lots where the finished products are parked awaiting transport to distributors and dealers. Trust me, 35 years in the business tells me this guys "story" is really a non-story.
Manufacturers would quickly go out of business if they were truly just filling up every open space on the planet with excess production, as this guy seems to be implying. Most manufacturers these days build to order, at least in this country, and the cars are destined for a distributor or dealer when they leave the assembly plant. Where I worked we didn't build "spec" units like a home builder; we only built cars for which we had firm dealer orders. Some other companies may do it differently, but they aren't piling up hundreds of thousands of cars in lots all over the world, never to be sold, just to keep production numbers up. They don't get paid for producing them, they get paid when they actually sell them to dealers.
