Yeah, my "HD BS sensor" started tingling right away after his lips started moving.  It reminded me of the sales people at the now defunct  Circuit City.  They seemed to hire the youngest, most inexperienced kids so they could pay them as little as possible.  It was frustrating when the customer knew more about the product than the salesman.

Look how well that worked for Circuit City.
Isn't it frustrating to go buy something (car, bike, grill, shoes, electronics, tools) and you know more than the salesperson.  Big box stores are masters at this.

Never turn mine off, Had the bike since OCT. 06

Same here.  Your salesman is probably new at the game and is trying to appear "smart"

I live in the middle of nowhere so cruise is essential for riding.. If I don't have it on I look down and I'm going 90!!  My switch is never in the off.  I leave my spots on all the time too.

The brands of automobile I'm most familiar with also use a system that requires turning the system on first, then using a different button to actually SET a speed.  It hasn't got anything to do with the BS the dealership told the OP, it's just a simple safety measure to keep clueless drivers from accidently engaging the cruise control while mindlessly cruising down a frozen highway in the dark of night.  One would assume if they pressed two different buttons in the proper sequence that they really did mean to engage the cruise control.  Don't forget folks, there are no intelligence tests required when people buy a vehicle.  Maybe if there was the rest of us wouldn't have to put up with all the stupid warning labels as well as things like this.
