Windshield thoughts for 2014 Ltd.
« on: May 24, 2014, 07:55:57 PM »

I have a '14 Ltd with a stock windshield. I love the height, but keep getting pegged with bugs. Do i need to go taller, or do the recurved models allow for shorter heights?  I am 6'4" with 34" inseam, so i sit pretty tall in the saddle. I would love to stay at 10" or less if possible. What are you all using?

Watching this.  I am   5.11. 32 inseam,    Just ordered 11" with recurve.   Current stock 10" with the little vent open,   Wind hits me right on front of my half helmet.   70 plus. Eyes see doubleeee

What did you order? Buffeting is not too bad on mine with the vent open, but do notice getting hit with bugs right above my glasses on the forehead.

Freedom shield.    He is running behind so don't have it yet.    I did do the fork wind deflectors.  Keeps airflow coming over the radiators.  Helps on the bottom end,    Now hurry up windshield.

Thanks, and if you could post pics from the side and front, that would be awesome. Beautiful bike you got there. :)

Windshield height depends on a lot of things just not height/inseam.... Check with some of the vendors on the site as they have a formula if you will of how to decide on what size windshield to get. Asking others what they use as far as height and you getting that may not be the right one for you... lots of things to consider, how you sit (slouch/straight up/etc.), what type seat you have on your bike, do you want to look thru the windshield or not, recurve (would allow for a shorter windshield) or not. Don't remember the specifics of how to choose a windshield but goes something like sitting on your bike w/it standing straight up, draw an imaginary line from your eyes to above your fairing/windshield, measure from the top of fairing to that imaginary line (can't remember if you use that exact number or +/- something) and that would be the height windshield you need. If you decide that you want a recurve than you can deduct an inch or two because the recurve will direct wind over you allowing that option.
