New Front suspension installed
« on: May 27, 2014, 07:17:08 PM »

I was experiencing a slight wobble from the front end of my 11.5 CUSE6 when taking sweeping corners at about 30-40 MPH, I would have to either accelerate through the wobble if possible or ignore it and hold on. And of course the typical vague feeling provided by the stock front suspension - never really felt planted and there was no feedback as to what the front tire was doing.

This could be described as a great ride --- in mid 70's Cadillac Fleetwood . Best described as feeling like the front end was floating at times.

Well, I had the HD premium dual cartridge kit (P/N 45500106) installed last week and after a weekend and a couple hundred miles of riding - WOW - it really made a world of difference in the way the bike rides and handles. The ride is much firmer with the front end now feeling much more planted to the road and I have a much better feel for what the front tire is doing at all times. Cornering is much improved with no more of that wobble, the front end now inspires confidence to run a more aggressive pace when the mood strikes and conditions allow. My wife even noticed the bike feeling more stable from the passenger pillion. IMHO this was a very worthwhile expense.

BTW - I also have the Premium Ride rear shocks, I installed those last spring and so far they meet my needs.

'Installed the Premium Shocks, then the Premium Forks on the '09 SERG.

It took about 1k mi. for the forks to settle in for me, then I played with the shocks a couple of times, We really like the set-up :2vrolijk_21: Much better than the PS set-ups that I have ridden.

Good to know.  I'm tearing out my Progressive Monotubes and going back to stock springs and damper rods with Ricor Intiminators.  The Monotubes were great on smooth pavement and tearing through corners, but were terribly harsh and unforgiving on anything less than a perfect road.

Nice to know that the Mothership's cartridge system works.
