No, they've never leaked. But after an unfortunate incident with a burst ice maker line that flooded our kitchen (and the basement kitchen under it, taking out the drywall ceiling on it, too), I didn't want to take any chances with the new laminate flooring I recently laid down in the laundry room!

Gotcha probably got a drain hooked up to that tray, they all do that any more in So Cal with the water heaters that are still inside the houses, back there its warm enough to put them outside in a little metal cabinet. When they fail drains away.

a million thanks go's too Keats twolane recommended we talk to him and he saved us from our selves, he explained the modern kemore deal, theres about 20 companys making washer dryers sold under the Kenmore name, the first 3 digets of the part number is a code that tells who made it, google Kenmore part number factory of manufacture theirs a long list of companys that make them. some ok some not so ok china like our Harleys maybe some india too.
