Well don't do what we did. Bought another pair of kennmores. Washer was a pos. They couldn't fix it to run right. Now we have LG. Dryer is OK but washer is pos too. It keeps going into unbalance mode. That makes it refill all the way to the brim......over and over!! So much for saving water! No one can fix it to stop doing that.

Had a POS Kenmore that we stuck as much money in as we paid for it and gave up on it.  We bought a Maytag and are happy with it.

I feel your pain! I just had a 22 month Frigidaire refrigerator take a chit also. I had a 5 year extended warranty on it. It took Lowes 3 weeks to replace it because the compressor was bad! Now I have another one & another 5 year extended warranty on the new one.

I just gave away 30 + Maytag washer to a friend & it still works great!

I am a home builder and we will not provide washers and dryers unless GE or Whirlpool. Never a problem even with their cheapest models.

No problems with our Whirlpool W&D (going on 4 yrs); however, my wife said she'd never buy another front load washer....she said she can put things in the washer and they come out still dirty and bulky items will be dry in the middle, so obviously no water reached the middle of the load.

Have had Kenmore with no trouble, gave them to grandson when he went to college 7 years ago. He still has them and all is well. We then got a set of Maytags, even better.

We bought Bosch ten years ago. Front loaders, washer works super, dryer rear bearing has went out three times rollers twice. Other than being high priced they seem great compared to what I have read on here.

LG here. We've owned many of different makes. These LGs have been running great for going on 8 years now.

Wife and I used to sell and repair appliances. I used to recommend Whirlpoll and Kenmore as parts were most easily available and easiest to work on. We personally now have Kenmore front loaders with the bases. The bases are worth it as you have storage and they work as platforms to set your basket on. So far 9 years and no problems. The front loader washers are easier on your clothes as no agitator to beat them to death.

I 'll go with Bosch. Found ours at SEARS with a special promotion which priced them among the LGs and Whirlpools.
If you wanna go high-end - last forever and then hand it to your grandkids type of appliances then aim for a MIELE. Ridiculously expensive but worth it.

Maytag front loader going on 15 years.  Don't know about the earlier poster having problems with a front loader.  I have had front loaders for most of the last 35 years.  Never want a top loader again.  They use less water, less wear on the clothes, and they come out cleaner.  Used to be able to say it saved a ton of money on drying, which it does.  But now there are top loaders that have the high speed spin, saving the same way.
