Are these things configured by Harley to only work via the in-bag hook up?

I take it out, and cannot get it to turn on !

Plug it in, works fine...

But, try to use it as a normal iPod in my pocket...  NOPE.
Wont even turn on !

Anyone else ?

Hmmm, I think I solved it.

Apparently, it does not charge while in the bike and being used..
Or at least, whatever charge it had, died. 

So, it will work when you fire it up because it receives power, but it is not charging..

I guess.... mine was dead.   

Oh well.  Charged it in the house and works now.

My 2012 CVO does the same thing with a Gen 7 I-Pod. The older model will charge just fine. It's a Harley thing
