Hello and welcome from Stockbridge, Georgia............One thing I would recommend before you pull the trigger.  I've owned a lot of bikes and lots of Harley's, and would recommend you not buy your first Harley based on its looks and glitter.  Rent a soft tail for a day and put a full days worth of riding on it, then rent a touring model such as a street glide or Ultra and do the same.  Each Harley has its own personality and level of comfort and you need to buy the one you'll ride and not turn into a garage queen because it isn't comfortable enough for you and your bride.  I've owned all models of Harley and keep coming back to the touring model (street glide this time) because to me they are more comfortable with better seating comfort, better suspension comfort, and better wind protection than the soft tail.  What's right for me may very well not be right for you; rent and ride before you buy and you'll be making a more informed purchase.  $30K plus is serious change for a bike.   In the end I hope you end up with a Harley that's just right for you!!

Since I don't know about your previous motorcycling experience I'll just stick to you questions.

The CVO Deluxe is essentially their hot version of the Heritage. The bikes light front end makes it easy to stand up off the kick stand. It is a great bike for long weekend rides and the occasional long touring. A friend of mine has taken his on several 5000 mile trips..

Touring model Harley's are heavy and can be easily dropped if not on guard. But they are great for touring.

One thing you will/might find is that the 110" motor can be a little warm. That can be remedied with a change of exhaust and a tuner. The tuner adjusts the fuel map and different pipes, depending on your choice will give it that Harley rumble.

Harley's are torquey. A little touch of the throttle starts the pulling.  :2vrolijk_21:

Going to the dealer for service is expensive. But changing oil, primary and transmission oils is really very easy.

All in all the CVO Deluxe provides a great balance between weekend rider and a occasional tourer.

Be careful out there and good luck!

Welcome to the site!!

Also remember to take the safety riding course before you get on your new bike!!!  Money well spent if it has been a few years since you been on a bike.  You get to practice and refresh muscle memory with someone else bike.

Thank you for your service, congratulations on your retirement and be safe out there having fun on your new ride when you buy it.
