24 D...Again
« on: June 06, 2014, 09:05:24 AM »

My  2014 110" is pretty "ticky" between 2800 and 3200 rpm. Going to  install 24D cams, and S&S Prem lifters along with S&S adj. pushrods. Those that have done this, will it quiet down?

I did the same change, only difference was I used Fuel Moto push rods. It quieted down significantly in my case. Now if I could only quiet down my open primary...lol.

The stock lifters are not too grand. Your selection of parts should be a significant improvement in valvetrain being quiet if that's what you're after. Getting rid of the stock (catalytic) exhaust and bumping compression up for that particular cam as well as a good dyno tune would be most ideal situation for that cam choice (a good proven cam). Bike will have a quiet valvetrain, run cooler and make much better power than the stock setup. Congrats on the new bike, BTW!

"Congrats on the new bike, BTW!"

Thanks for the reply(s) , this is going to be a bolt in/on deal, so compression will remain as is. Have seen a few dyno sheets as bolt in only that did quite well. Know the tune will be crucial. Hope the tq is not too soft with the cam change, 255's give up early but sure do come on well down low, so will see if the 24's are a good compromise.

Got one recently, with 24 D cams, Crusher Mellow's, and S&S premium lifters, my ticking is gone, and runs strong. Very Happy.
