New to site
« on: June 06, 2014, 12:47:57 PM »

Hello,

I've been a rider for 40 years.  My last 3 bikes have been HD.  I bought a CVO Fat Bob new in 2010 and have only added a fat Cat exhaust to it.  Ran it for some time before I decided to have a Super Tuner installed to address a lean condition.  Ever since, I've had trouble where the dealer set it up and would run well except back fire through the intake when starting.  Had them re tune it and then trouble began with on six gear light not working.  had them re tune it and now it idles erratic -900-1100 and takes awhile to idle down when stopping.  Heard a number of reasons for not getting right but wonder why an HD dealer wouldn't have a straight forward download solution that works?  Wondering if anyone can help me out with this?  If the answer is already posted on this site, I apologize for not looking first. I just found this site 5 min. ago.

thanks!

Welcome aboard from Minnesota! Glad you've joined the fun. Seems like it's about time to find a new dealer or, depending on where you live, someone who knows how to tune Harleys. There are several great ones on this site.

Welcome to the site glad to have you join us. :2vrolijk_21: Find another dealer/tuner and have them tune your bike... sounds like you are taking your bike to/back to an incompetent tuner. :nixweiss:

Welcome to the site!  If you tell us where you are located I'm sure there are members in your area that can point you to the right person that can tune your bike properly.

Re: New to site/ Super Tuner Tuning problems
« Reply #5 on: June 06, 2014, 02:31:21 PM »

I live in Poland Maine.  I have been going to Big Moose Harley Davidson forever.  They've been very good about several attempts to correct the problems by not charging for the visits since the initial tuner install.  They say Harley is aware of the 6th gear light failure associated with firmware but has no current solution.  I'm scheduled back in there next Thursday and hopeful they can at least get it to idle and not pop during deceleration. Anyone out there know of a good tuner in Maine?

Welcome and stay on the issue to get it right.  I hope all your issue get resolved.  There is no doubt that the proper download is critical to the proper running of any of these bikes.  My 2009 Dyna Fat Bob is my favorite motorcycle.  It is one I will never sell as long as I can ride.  Good luck.

Welcome to the site from The Lowcountry of South Carolina! Sorry you are having tuning problems. Don't give up as there are some good tuners in New England. You may have to go down to Mass. to get it taken care of. Look under the Custom Vehicle Discussion section.
This may be of interest to you.
Attending a GTG is the best way to get to know the members and put a face to those screen names. Many a lasting friendship have come out of these GTG's,
So. if you want to meet people, ride some awesome roads, kick back and have fun, come to one or all of the GTG's. ( For the newbies out there, GTG = Get Together )
Make your plans now and avoid the rush. In other words, stop pondering and get a hankering and make reservations and attend.
See ya'll there.
The GTG's are in the event section of the board.
