Just received my new slip-ons today from V&H for my 2014 CVO Softail Deluxe. I ordered them from Revzilla and according to their website they should fit my bike, however I've noticed the mounting bracket will not work, and is specifically for non-cvo softails.
My question is if I drill new holes in my existing mounting brackets to match up with the V&H slip-ons I can make them fit, even through they will be virtually turned sideways. (And I tried tech support and of course nobody was home...)
Bad idea to drill new holes? Did I order the wrong ones? Anyone now if it's common to need to drill new holes to install V&H slip-ons?
Any help would be appreciate.
You have the wrong mufflers, and I would not try to make them fit by drilling. As best I can tell by looking at parts drawings, you couldn't actually make them fit correctly by just drilling anyway, since the regular deluxe uses a totally different type of mounting bracket that sits at a different angle. Check the actual V&H website and you'll find that those mufflers are only shown to fit the standard models, not the CVO.
Btw, it's not common or normal to have to drill anything to fit V&H mufflers. If their pipes require different mounting brackets for a model they say they will fit, they would supply them with the mufflers. If Revzilla actually said they would fit your CVO, they were wrong and they should take them back at no cost to you.
