ignition switch
« on: June 10, 2014, 09:52:58 AM »

Just had ignition switch replaced.  Get it done before warranty runs out. Cost of switch $505. It quit locking with the remote,& luckily it was still in warranty. Just happened to check the fork lock while in Daytona & found it not working. Would still lock with key,but not remote. Several people are having this prob. One locked & would not unlock, even with the key, needed wrecker to haul to dealer. Dont know if it is something that can be checked before it fails, but check your switch guys after you have used remote to lock. 2013 CVO Ultra

I had my tank mounted switch fail about a month ago on my 08 SERK.  I had to wait close to two weeks because I wanted the keys to match.  I did the work myself and it cost $83.00 for the part.   While I was in there I found a few bare wires near the bottom of the gas tank.  I repaired those and pulled some wires in the harness to hook up the new Radar unit to run off the spare switch.  No way I could afford to have the dealership continue to do the easy projects.  Glad your was under warranty.
