Questions when putting in new battery
« on: June 15, 2014, 10:53:05 AM »

Should I put my bike in transport mode when changing the battery so the alarm doesnt go off? Last time I had a heck of a time with my alarm. Any tips on changing battery would be a great help.  It's a 2008 SERK. Thank you

The only "trick" I'm aware of is to make sure the security system is disarmed BEFORE you disconnect the old battery.  With your fob close by, turn on the ignition (don't actually start the engine of course), then pull the Maxi fuse.  Then disconnect the old battery (negative first, then positive), remove the battery, set the new battery in place, install the positive cable, then the negative cable, then the Maxi fuse.

yep, that's what they tell you in the service manual as well.

be sure to turn everything off again though before you install the maxi fuse back in.

I believe that a little haste may have made some waste on my part.   In a hurry the other morning I pulled my battery and it sounded like grabbing a baby pig by the back leg.  It finally stopped squealing but I wonder if pulling the fuse before the re-install will get me anywhere??
