You need to be more specific.  Are you running out of gas before 200 miles or is the light just coming on? When you stop after the light has come on, how much can you get in the tank? Has the bike's engine been modified?

Most folks get between 38-45 mpg, depending on how they ride. Some get as much as 50.

The range of mpg I stated above is the average most people on this site get.

I personally find it extremely difficult to believe that you were actually getting 65-70 mpg on a 2005 SEEG.  That would be an absolute first, and I've been on here since 2007  2006.  I also owned an '06 SEUC with the same 103 as your SEEG and NEVER got more than 50 mpg...usually around 42.

Even at 50 mpg, and you ran the tank virtually dry between stops, that would be 250 miles...it had a 5 gallon tank.

I'm sure you know how to check your mileage instead of a "best estimate", so I would suggest you do so and then report the ACTUAL mpg you are getting on the new bike.  Plus, your mileage will improve slightly with a few more miles on the clock, but not a significant amount.  Only by reporting actual mpg can you get a reasonable answer to your original question.

One thing I do know,  mpg and vehicle speed are inversely proportional.   200miles/tank is a stretch on the big slab at 75mph+.

I'd say it's broken in about as well as any air cooled engine can be.

If you want the best fuel economy, keep the RPM's between 2,000-2,500 at all times, but don't lug the engine. Above 3K is where it starts burning fuel and that's upwards of 75mph, closer to 80mph in 6th gear.  It has been my experience that the best fuel mileage happens between 60-65mph in 6th gear.  If you run those speeds on an Interstate, you'll get run over.

I don't completely get why you would spend $30+(maybe ++) on a upgraded version of a MC with a larger motor and then operate it "lightly" because of fuel economy to save under $5 on a 300 mile day (300 X 35MPG = 8.5 gallons, 300 X 40MPG = 7.5 gallons. $4 a gallon...).
I really am not trying to be argumentative and understand that "money doesn't grow on trees" as my father told me every day of my life growing up but if economy is important to you, why would you spend a Cr--load of additional money in the first place for a CVO??

I don't worry about fuel mileage until I'm at 1/4 tank in the middle of nowhere.

Don't usually let that happen, but: A couple of years back I was low on gas, and meant to fill up when I stopped to pick up a hydration vest at a dealer in MD.  It was 100 that day, and I guess I got distracted.  Got back on the highway, and 15 miles later I looked down and said Hotel Sierra.  Cut across 3 lanes of I95 to an exit, and put 6.1 gallons  :o  in at an Exxon station. Have the photo to prove it.
