Hi People.
New in this forum. Got myself a 2013 flhtcuse8 CVO Ultra, and started Reading in the forum about the Entertainment system in relations to the GPS and my phone.
This of course because I cannot use my phone on the bike. Well, it connects fine With the Zumo 660, but it is not communicating with the radio, hence the hard wired system to the helmet.
I soon found out that many people have had the same problem, and that is is possible to connect some new cables to be able to hear the gps directions through the helmet speakers. This again would mean that the radio must be set to AUX, and that the button controlling the sound from the stereo is going to the helmet or the speakers on the bike must be in a special position.
Even then many People had problems. One was that the instructions from the dealer was wrong. Other People had other problems.

For me all this is absolutly unbelivable. We live in 2013. How hard could it be for HD to use a radio With Bluetooth? Then both gps and telephone could have connected.

So, in order to skip the whole HD issue, I wounder if it is possible to buy an aftermarket radio with Bluetooth that can connect With the bikes plugs to the helmets and the handlebar controls?
Someone in a forum here in Norway said that this was possible, and I am on a quest to find out. Here we are also in the situation that the FM band soon will be shut down and replaced with the DAB system which is a digital system. Much better reception an stuff, but of cource a problem for my Harley. The transformation is soon finished, so the DAB system is now up and running. The FM band has therefore not been mended for some time, and the reseption is getting worse and worse.
Therefore something must be done.

I hope some of you can point me in some kind of direction here. Thank you.

Hello and welcome. I know that iron cross audio does a blutooth mod for about $140. You have to pull the radio or and send it to them. Www.ironcrossaudio.com

I did the iron cross blue tooth mod.   Works great and sounds great.   I would do that if the blue tooth is important to you.   Stuart.

So Stuart, everything works as before, and you are now able to answer phone calls while riding? Will the display show anything then? Can one use the buttons on the handle bar to operate the phonebook an such things, like a radio that have Bluetooth from the factory?

The Iron Cross Mod does not allow phone calls or hands free operation of the phone. It just allows you to stream music from your phone.

Not sure about the European model of the CVO but CVO's here in the states and Canada come with the Navigation Interface Module already installed. You should be able to hear Turn Prompts through your headset regardless of the mode your radio is in. You just need to have the speaker switch all the way back so the light on the switch is on.

To make or take a phone call via the GPS you must use the Auxiliary Input on the radio. There is no way around this using the HK radio and Garmin GPS.

Using the Auxiliary Input will only allow you to hear the phone call. In order to have the ability to talk on the phone using your helmet intercom system you must install a microphone interface such as the HD Bomm.

Nothing you can do about the loss of FM radio where you live.

There are other radio's that people have been using to replace the HK, some of which have Bluetooth and use the handlebar controls but they are not water proof and come with their own problems. Nothing is ever perfect just ask those who have a 2014 with the Infotainment system.

Yes I know options are always good to have.

Reading his reply it sounded to me that he was under the understanding that the Iron Cross Mod would allow phone calls and I was just pointing out that it would not.

I would hate it if he was thinking that and found out later after he spent $$$ that it would not.

Yes, I have established that the directions from the Zumo is overriding whatever I am listening to. I do not need to flip the switch to the speekers all the way back either. It Works fine with the sound only to the helmets.

Regarding the Bluetooth thing, I hear you.
