If that could happen then maybe the warranty could stay intact

Direct from S&S
S&S will not machine the case to use factory oil lines. This is a patent deal plain and simple. ( its not a drill process any ways  but a CNC process )   That was made clear last year.

Even the S&S 124 engines they built with SE cases where not factory direct but bought through a dealer. I cannot see how they could , and if they could why go through the trouble. Why not just set it up that way to being with.  :nixweiss:

What patent could someone hold for something so simple?  Patents are also only good for 20 years.

Its not simple,.. its a flow through oil set up , HD is a pitbull when it comes to the money end. Why do you think no one ever was able to make and sell a B engine case. One guy did it and that ended very fast I am not sure that they where ever fully brought to market but he made a few he was in AU.

As S&S had to make changes to be able to sell it. Just like the older S&S case same deal changes in the oil system.

The 145 was a VERY slow moving engine sales wise.   The new 124 can be had with B2 heads so nothing wrong there. The new T2 case can be 131 135 or 139 the 135 can be built with parts that can be had off the shelf from S&S with B2 heads. But the larger engines will not be sold as a crate engine any time soon if ever.

James, I guess there is no way to get S&S to drill prior to the build?

There is a shop in Metarie, Louisiana, that is fixtured to do that.

This is correct and the engine has to be disassembled to machine the cases to run the lines internally. Having this done voids the S&S warranty because the motor has been disassembled and reassembled outside the S&S facility. You cannot order the engine from S&S and have it built with the oil lines machined internally either. Like Steve (GMR) says, it get S&S right back in the line of fire for trouble with patent infringement problems from S&S. Nor can you order cases from S&S, have them machined for internal lines and return the cases to S&S and have them build the motor. The best option IMO for this setup is to just run the oil lines externally. S&S sells the jig to do the process and the oil line kit is around $50. We will likely offer this as a service here at the shop as well so customers can retain the warranty S&S provides with their crate engine if the oil lines are run externally.

Scott, I have reason to think that is not true.  I called S&S and spoke to Tom Hampton I think it was in tech?  Working on a possible 131 inch build square bore 4 3/8ths.  He told me the oil lines would be on me as they don't make a kit for Dyna's (although this seems odd as there is really not much difference.)  Also, through a friend I am hearing that S&S is working on a kit for a 131 with 4 3/8ths stroke and a 139 with the longer stroke using CP pistons.  I have no proof of this though.  I have two sources who have figured out how to drill the SA cases for internal oil lines now and expect more to follow.  Nice to see you here by the way.  :2vrolijk_21: -Tutt

I've been hearing about the 139 motor as a bolt in no frame mods required for probably 2 plus years now. I feel confident that whatever it is, if its from S&S (outside of their smaller cams I dont care much for) it will be a great product. I have not had the opportunity to tune/use their 2-1 pipe yet either. Curious how well it performs and sounds.
