2014 Limited brake levers
« on: June 25, 2014, 01:10:39 PM »

Good Morning fellow owners. I just hit 3000 miles on my Limited and there is an issue that has been bugging me more and more. It was there from day one but has greatly escalated as the newness wears off. I have talked to the dealer, HD customer service and no fix available. My frickin HD size 12 Riddick style boot is so tight under the brake pedal that it gets caught up a bit at times. Very uncomfortable and a definite safety hazard. I just drip my foot off to the right but hell.......45,000 grand should be better. Best scoot I've owned in so many ways though. Not mechanical at all and need some help. Anyone found a solution cause I can't be the only one with a prob. I know I can buy new boots but it's so cramped on that footboard! Thanks, Jeff

I didn't do an exhaustive search, but it appears the HD extended brake pedal only fits thru year model 2013.  I can't believe they don't have one for for the 2014s.  Perhaps an aftermarket supplier like Kuraykan...

I feel your pain. When I picked mine up last week I realized on the way home my size 16 shoe was not happy with the new pedal.  I need to find a solution quickly.

I think I found a solution from a post recommending a company called Soft Brake in Idaho. Call them and you will get the owner. Very knowledgeable and should be able to help you out.......JFree

Softbrake is the only one I know for a 2014.  I have one on my mine and it may be the single best improvement I have made

An additional mod I'd suggest would be the extensions to move your floorboards out 3/4"-1" wider for more foot room.  I've had them on my last 3 FL's and wouldn't ride without them.  Something like these from VTwinGoodies:

On a Street Glide or lowered Ultra you will definitely drag the boards more if cornering aggressively, though.  On my FLHX I wore down the trailing edge of both boards and ground on the brackets themselves a little.  I don't drag so much on the FLHTKSE, though.
