My New '14 RK CVO
« on: July 01, 2014, 12:47:40 PM »

I had been looking at used bikes at the local dealer and gazed upon the tribal orange and black 2014. Man, it was hard to get that out of my head, but no way was I going to pay that price for a new bike. Did a Craigslist search and found one with 200 miles for sale on the other side of the country. The price was unbelievable, several thousand back of sticker price. Nigerian scammer, right?  Nope, just a desperate seller in a pinch 60 days after buying it new. So it just arrived in Houston and man, what a cool bike. We have been on it every evening after work and are headed out on a longer run this holiday weekend. Lots of power, incredible steering and control and turns heads everywhere.

I am now headed to the dealer to buy a black detachable sissy bar and 2013 CVO RG pad (which I gather is close but will require some stitching to match). And I read there is no black detachable hardware so I have to have that chromed black at some point. Am I going about this right or is there a better way to get a matching black detachable sissy bar and backrest setup?

Thanks,

Jim

Black sissy bar that came off my 2010 flhx works.
It's very tight but does work.

So here is the outcome:

Black standard height sissy bar PN 54247-09
Detachable kit, chrome, PN 52300137
Black pad for 2013 RG CVO, PN 52300300

Stitching DOES match the RK beige stitching.  With a simple pair of horizontal stitches on the insert at an upholstery shop the pad would match 100%, though I am not sure its even worth it because only a freak would notice otherwise.  Of course in typical Harley fashion...I have a black bar and pad with chrome attachments and screws. I can easily solve the screws but will have to have the hardware re-plated black.

I got the same bike and LOVE it!!!  I know people always say "I dont know how they will improve on..." but really... I don't know how Harley is going to improve on this bike.  Its beautiful, comfortable, stable, powerful!

I had about $3k in dealer parts installed before I even picked it up (floor boards, sissy bar, gps, etc.).  Well worth the money!
