This one is obviously not in your poll, but here is another idea to consider.

Hey! Don
I can't decide on just the center piece or the full chrome, but this is the one SCRM-R has it will cover all parts your worried about and you'll see the Red thru the flames. dam! got to have one of those [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Don

That piece is a strong contender Don.  Of course I wouldn't be worrying about any of this at all if you'd not started me thinking about it.  Guys are better off when we don't think!

I was also thinking of that flamed cut out air cleaner with the mesh inside done in red and the whole thing with a little of Dude's clear/white light inside of it.  Would show through the cover and show off the motor all at the same time.

Still not sure of fitment but may have found something I really really like though.  The mftr's website says this is offered in a version for Delphi fuel injection.  But I'd like to see just how it mounts to make sure I can use it.  At least to my tastes this is gorgeous.  But I'm the guy that likes the old retro Mooneyes finned billet aluminum rocker covers on V8s too.

JR, for the sake of only appearance it's my pick of the litter for those three as well.  But the application issues with the element and the looks issues with the breather parts would all be a problem.  So while it might be the occasional short term solution just to show the motor off a bit at a cruise in it can't be the long term road-tripping answer to the question.

Hey Don, just a thought. Did you look at the stock cover on the '07 SERK with a different insert?

A little more close up on the air cleaner itself.

The SERK air cleaner might just use a center trim that's a one-off.  Aside from the military and police series trims the only other center trim I find with that five hole mount is the Flying Wheel piece.  I actually had that on my last Road King.  Bracket is held on by a big screw in the center hole and that bracket gives you the five screw holes.

Look at it here compared to the SERK cover's center trim.  The SERK cover's trim piece looks to have the screw holes much closer to its OD then does this piece.  A change of the center mounting bracket would allow for the difference in position of the screw holes.  But if the OD of the time itself were not exactly (or at least almost exactly) the same diameter it wouldn't set appropriately against the larger housing.  Almost have to have pieces in hand to know if it would work.
