and the last one....

Howie, thanks again for the original idea of using the SERK/SE Springer cover for this.  On the bike with its lines lining up so perfectly with the engine fins, and with its size doing just what I need it to, that was a perfect suggestion.

Of course you've even pulled yours off since then....  :huepfenlol2:

Awesome Don, that looks great! I'm glad things worked out. Great engraving! Hoist! 8)

Not sure if I'll color the cut lines with something (sharpie, painted, whatever) or not yet.  Think I'll wait to see what it looks like fully polished before deciding.

Me too Jeff.  The final polishing probably won't get done until I get back from the Atlanta area and Birmingham the end of next week.  But it's a little project that is almost done now.  Feels good.
Very nice Don! Maybe I missed it somewhere but who did the engraving? John

Gene, that's the part I've not made my mind up on yet.  Just not sure.

I'll wait to see it on and completely polished before even contemplating the final decision any further though.  It might just look so good I won't want to mess with it.  If it seems coloring the lines is suggested, however, I've got some good enamel that is a close match to the timer and derby covers' red.  Stuff in the little bottles that came from a model store.  So I can put on my glasses, grab that itty bitty brush and give it try.  If it doesn't look as good can always take some thinner and wipe it right back out.....

This site makes custom stuff, it's a powdercoat, so they can do more detail than engraving.

That glass stuff is cool Talon.  Have seen a few of their pieces before.  Some of the dash stuff is very sharp.

I was working to avoid the big football for my chore here.  Wanted to cover the filter and some of the bracketry behind it; but still expose the motor.  Also wanted the motor to be the focal point.  So didn't want to make the center too special.  Didn't want it to overshadow the motor sitting behind it.  Basically, I was a picky sumbitch on this one....   :2vrolijk_21:

Still not polished out yet.  But I wanted to see what it was going to look like on the bike.

After a good polishing will decide if it'll get chromed.  Think I've already decided that a good pinstriper will get to lay some color in the lines though.  Just to make it stand up a bit.

Don,
Definitely agree w/that. With it all shiny there will be angles of view that the enscryption might disappear. It is looking good. :2vrolijk_21:

:2vrolijk_21:  TLR, that really is looking very good.  I have been away from the site for some time except for quick peeks so had no idea how much I had missed, but am glad to see the direction you are going here.  Not that I am sorry that I was lucky enough to pick up your extra painted air cleaner.  It is finally on the bike with some pretty chrome back up parts around it.  It looks fantastic.  Sounds a little lower than the standard part or perhaps the chrome surround parts changed the tone a little.  Not bad, just a little lower growl coming from the bike now.  Thanks for the opportunity to share in this thread.
