Problem with V&H Power Duals
« on: July 21, 2014, 11:54:44 AM »

I've fitted a set of V&H Power Duals, and I cannot get the front port to stop leaking.  V&H supply the Evo/SE type gasket, and even trying with two of these in the ports the front still leaks.  The shape of the V&H header where it goes into the port is a little different to other headers, so I'm wondering if I can use the standard TC gasket, which, although it's not recommended by V&H stands a better chance of sealing I hope.

Anyone used the standard TC gasket with V&H headers successfully?

Yes you can.... :2vrolijk_21: However I must say, Fullsac is the ONLY company I see making the gasket end of the pipe correctly.....all the other pipe manufactures should follow suit for the best fit.......one more reason to buy FULLSAC.

S&S power tune duals are an excellent fit as well. The Vance and Hines are supposed to be as well..... not sure what happened with yours.

The problem comes from how the exhaust and bike is made. The heads can move around when being assembled and so can the pipes when they are being welded. That is the reason HD changed the gasket and mating flange on the pipes in the first place. If I were you I would send the pipes back and ask for a different set. If not your going to be screwing around with them forever, believe me I know only to well. It was a hard lesson learned. My bet is that your set of pipes moved during welding and are never going to seal properly just as mine didn't.

If it wasn't for the fact that I'm in Scotland and sending back is to the US, I'd have already done that, Steve!  (May come to that yet, of course....)

As a guide to V&H's customer care, I emailed the gasket question to their support 48 hours back.  They haven't bothered with a reply.

No surprise there, V&H customer service isn't much, I'll not buy anything else from them anytime soon...

Yep, their chance has passed for me too.  I should have given them the push as a supplier after the last problem a friend had with them.

Found my power duels to be troublesome as well ,retainer ring broke .bolt broke off in the head and the pipe had a split in it. I have now installed S&S power tune duels ,time will tell :nixweiss:

I finally got them to seal using stock TC gaskets.  Let's hope that's the end of the problems with them!

That would be 100% in accord with my opinion.  :2vrolijk_21:
