2004 SEEG speaker balance
« on: July 21, 2014, 02:39:24 PM »

Hello,

I'm new the forum and new owner of a 2004 Screaming Eagle Electra Glide. The balance on my radio appears to be off. Sounds from the right speaker is twice as "loud" as from the left. However, I've not been able to locate a balance setting when flipping through the options - just bass, treble and volume. Am I missing something?

Also, one other questions not necessarily related. There is a knob on the lower left portion of the fairing that is not labeled. Any idea what that may be?

There is no balance control on the Stock Radio. If it is different from one side to the other you most likely have a bad speaker or the radio is bad.

Is the knob near the speedo? If do it is the odometer trip reset. Post a picture if not and we'll be able to identify it.

I was afraid of that with the balance. I'll have to check it was a CD to verify. I've been using the AUX input so far.

I've attached a photo showing the knob location. It's below the handlebars and has the appearance of a car cigarette lighter from the 80's.

It spins freely in either direction, but doesn't appear to affect anything as far as I can see.

That's exactly what it is.

That's too funny. Don't feel bad sir.  Somewhere here there is another old thread that, for much the same reason, forever renamed that particular part the mystery button (or something like that).

You can't not remember.  You're the site elephant.  You remember everything here.

Several years ago someone started a thread asking about his mystery button and wondering what it did.  After posting a pic it turned out he was asking about the lighter.  For quite awhile thereafter the nickname "mystery button" stuck pretty well.

I'll try to find it later.  If I'm not too tired.  If it's not too late.  If I've had a decent Scotch.  Or unless I just decide not to.

Thanks for the help guys! I tried to pull that mystery knob out again last night... and I didn't have to pull very hard and sure enough, standard cigarette lighter... feel kind of stupid for asking!

On the balance with the radio it seems fine with a CD or radio. I tried a different AUX cord and balance still seems off from my phone, so either I have two bum cables or my phones output is mono. Either way radio/speakers seems to be fine itself.

Thanks again!
