UltraCool Oil Cooler and Wheel Chalks Question
« on: July 21, 2014, 11:48:21 PM »

I current have a 2012 Street glideCVO  with the Harley oil cooler and it is not cutting it.  I am seeing way too high temp on the oil and was looking to put an UltraCool Refer oil cooler on the bike but I have  one concern that I am sure someone out there might know the answer to.  I have a KenDon Trailer that has built in wheel chalks.   I do not know without purchasing and installing the cooler if the wheel chalks will hit the cooler when you put it  on the trailer.  Is there anyone out there that knows for sure?? I just want to know before I spend the money!  Mr. Murphy bites me way to often.

Don't you just despise that prick Murphy!!  ( hope he did not hear that   :-X )  I have one of those oil coolers and it sticks out about 1/2 a inch further that the stock cooler. But not any lower. Had my bike on several work benches with wheel chocks and they didn't even come close to it.  Whats different about the Ken Don Wheel Chock?  does it operate on a different principal?

Hey cvo2fixup did the ultracool really lower your temps? If so could you give me an idea of how much.  I have seen temps up to 280 on a 90* day.

Just curious, what are you using to get oil temp readings?

The digital dipstick from HD.  I have check it against another high temp thermometer and it is with 3* at 250*.   So I do know that oil is very hot!

Don't have hard numbers, but I tell you it sure feels like it. For one thing the rear cylinder does not cut out any more in stop and go traffic.   ( used to do that all the time ) Also, the fan and a small led light comes on when the oil temp reaches 220. So I can monitor when the fan comes on and how long it stays on for. And usually the fan comes on after sitting in stop and go for a "while" and is off as soon as you start to move.  So I know the temp is below 220 or there about. Those fans are very powerful.  Sucks your hand to the rad if you place your palm over the grill when the fans are on. Cheers.

Wonder if the road grime will clog or have any effect on it?
