The 2007 flhrse3 from hell....
« on: July 22, 2014, 11:57:19 PM »

Ok, so it's been a while since I posted here. To those that remember, I bought a totaled 2007 flhrse3 to try and bring back to life....well as they say, no good deed goes unpunished. Once I got the bike, as I bought it online, I saw it was pretty bad but fixable. I've built things from nothing to start with but a picture so how bad could it be. As you see in my avatar, the frame was bent beyond repair and it went down hill from there. Everything I touched needed to be replaced, besides the frame I had to replace all the tins, the engine and trans cases. Well I'm getting kind of burned out and because of the special nature of the bike, I have to use all the correct pieces from the MoCo. Read that as $$$$$$$. I know it will be worth it in the end so I guess I'm just writing this to vent my frustrations. Here are some pictures to show where I'm at now. It's the first time out of the garage in two years...

Most projects have their share of bumps/obstacles but from your previous post and this current thread, sounds like you had your and everyone elses share of 'em.  However your progress on this scooter sure shows and the bike as it looks so far is a beauty.  I believe it was that great philosopher Hannibal Smith that said "I love it when a plan comes together".  Your's is coming along and as much as I'm sure you do, we also are looking forward to the final product.

Thanks for the positive words. As everyone knows, who has tackled something like this, you have your ups and downs. I'm kinda in a down mode now, I know I'll get over it and slap some sense into myself, I'm just bummed that it looks like another summer will pass with no riding. So I will once again focus on getting it done for the next beautiful riding season here in the mountains. Until the next update with more pictures....
Thanks,
Chris  :orange:
