D207 vs D407
« on: July 31, 2014, 09:37:24 AM »

So ordered a new rear tire a couple of weeks ago from New Castle and got a D207 instead of the D407 I ordered.  I am not in a hurry to change it out as I planned ahead, however I did. to plan for a mis shipment.  None the less.

What is the difference between the two tires beyond load characteristics?
I have not looked yet, but pretty sure the 407 cost more too.

The D207 ZR is a radial tire designed for the V-Rod.  It has a significantly lower load rating, a higher speed rating, and a higher MSRP than the stock D407.

See attachment (click to enlarge) for the specs.

The most obvious difference, after the significantly lower load rating, is that the D 207 ZR is radial construction.  Since it is only available in one size, it appears to be Dunlop's attempt to give Road Glide owners an alternative.  Note the rim width recommendation, though.

Here is theD 407

There is a new D 407t, but only a 16" size.

In the past, Dunlop has been pretty good about responding to email inquiries. You might want to try that.

I seriously doubt Dunlop intended this as a replacement for the 18" rear on the SERG Greg.  It doesn't meet the load range requirement, at 74 versus 80 or 81 for the stock tires on the SERG and SESG.  It is intended for the V-Rod.

New Castle is going to straighten it out for me.  I am getting the right tire for my bike, the D407

Thanx all
