I'm going with the V&H TD's with S&S SPO's, K&N HD-0800, PCIII (programmed corrections for 1st 1K mi, then dyno-tuned). That should do it for the motor. Then I'll have 1 year, 11 months then to torture him about my 2 Year Warranty!

Be prepared. Their site is not very user friendly. To find their products, you need to look in the catalogs they list by engine type, and go thru them. If you don't pick that up, you'd think they don't list their products at all. Hoist!

You're right, should have been more specific. Here is the direct link to Catalogs. Look for the '07 Twin Cam Catalog, and click on "View Guide Online" page 10 & 11 will give you information on the SPO mufflers.

Hey guys - thanks for that information.

Things are coming along now and my options are starting to get a little smaller. Reckon the plann should all be together in another few weeks.

What date are you expecting to pick up your SERK Hoist ?

It'll be cool to see some pics of your bike with the new exhaust system.

The S & S site is now logged in my favourites - don't know why I couldn't find it myself. They must have a poor set of matches for the search engines.

Hey Nige! You've decided for yourself what your doing? My scheduled shipping date is Jan. 12! I can't wait! ;D I'm hoping they finish it on Jan 10 and take 2 days to box and load it for shipping on Jan 12. Then I'll get a "Wednesday " bike! :o Hopefully, they'll come close to hitting he date is more like it. You'll definitely get some looks over there w/ those S&S muffs. I hope they have something worked up for the ECM/PCIII to get rid of your flappers. There's gotta be some way of fooling it. Brilliant! ;) Hoist!

You guys have given me loads to think about and I've learnt a whole new bunch of stuff (see I'm even starting to speak like you !). I guess I had the outline of a plan from the start, but that has been redefined by what I have been reading on here. The main difference to your starting plan and mine is that I will more than likely go with the SERT rather than the PC. This is because I'm not a technical kind of guy and I would hate the thought of having to remove it if I broke down in some foreign land. My stealers have told me that they will warrant the installation of the SERT if they do it, so I will get that in writing and carry that around with me when I travel. Hopefully that way I will avoid most potential problems (maybe I need it translated into a few different languages as well ! )

I'm still not sure about the S & S SPO's as I don't reallyknow much about them (Hence asking for the info). I was thinking along the lines of The V & H Big Shot True Duals, but I'm not sure if I want another bike that puts out so much noise. Germany is getting much more strict with noisy pipes now and there have been issues of bikes being impounded, pipes removed and folk being told that they cannot move the bike until standard pipes have been fitted. I ride in Germany most years at some stage so I don't really fancy falling foul of those laws.

Why do you feel that the S & S SPO's will fit your needs the best.

Cheers fer now,

 [smiley=2vrolijk_09.gif]

Nige

Not too sure about the flappers being linked to the ECM, but I will find out.

Hey Nige, you're scarin' me a little with that NY accent of yours! :o The SERT's a good way to go for you because of your Flappers. This way you can be supported by your dealer and hopefully all the other dealers as well. The PCIII is real simple to remove and reinstall. You just pull the side cover off, unplug it and replug the harness together. But with the O2 Eliminators and what ever needs to be done with your Flapper Fooler, the SERT should be better for you. I'm glad you're working with your dealer and you shouldn't have to worry about your 2 Year Warranty with it in writing! ;)

If you're going with the TD's then you need to pick a muffler. The 2 that I narrowed it down to, were based on the quietest peformance ones. The S&S SPO's are the quietest and then the V&H Ovals next. The V&H's are chrome and slightly louder. The S&S are quieter and polished Stainless Steel. To some they are, well, ugly. That's one of the things I like about them. They are said to perform the best but I don't know how much you'll really notice the difference, although I hope so! These were my finalists, but sound is very objective. I really don't want it too loud on an a long trip these days anymore. Maybe it's an age thing. ::)

Hope this helps your thought process. Good luck and let me know what wind up doing.

Takin' a shot at it on my own Nige. "Yeah man, let's crank up the sounds and get loaded with your OL"? [smiley=confused5.gif] Best I could come up with. I told I don't speak English! :o

Gotta love an ugly duckling though, don'tcha'? I don't think you'll find the V&H objectionable and they're probably more common. Although, the S&S's are distributed by Drag Specialties, so they should be fairly available. I think the V&H are a little cheaper too. It depends on what's easier to deal with over there. Same with the ECM mod's. Either should should be fine. Whatever's easiest for you to deal with.

Thanks for the English lessons. I probably failed my first test though! :-/ I hope I don't get left back!

Hi Nige
I've decided on the V&H Oval slip-ons and will be picking them up with a full flow filter in the US just after Xmas. I too have discounted the PC and V&H Fuelpak in favour of the SERT (so far). As far as muffler choice goes, I found the sound files on the V&H website useful. Perhaps not too scientific, but it helped in comparing the "tone" of the various V&H mufflers. I was after a low rounded tone rather than a higher "bark" - well I said it wasn't scientific!

Hi Al - the SERT part No. is 32107-01F.

If you are heading over the pond to pick up some stuff for yourself can I put the armlock on you to get me a couple of bits ? If you have room I'd appreciate a SERT as well and a K & N HD-0800 A/C. Give me a bell sometime and we'll arrange to meet down at the Ouseburn for a coffee and some craic !
