Summer riding and water
« on: August 25, 2014, 03:04:19 PM »

To all,   I have been searching for water bottles / mugs for riding the CVO Limited.   I do have Dual Hog troughs holders on my ride, they came with insulated mugs / water bottles with coozie jackets.  The Ice in the mugs did not last even 30 minutes in the Texas heat.   Wife had these in the cupboard so i gave them a shot (   Under Armour® Dominate 24 oz. Vacuum-Insulated Hydration Bottle)
Filled them up with Ice and water before leaving house at 7 am.   meet our group and rode 225 miles  stoping for fuel, breaks and lunch, the one bottle we drank and refilled with water at one of the rest stops, the other we drank a about half the water out of..
when we got home we parked the Bike and went in to cool off.  Temp in afternoon was 98  Heat index of 110 in Houston,   I went back a few hours later to clean up the ride and bring in the water bottles. One water bottle we refilled had cool water in it, the other we drank very little from still had Ice in it after 9 hrs.
I would say this works very well !!!!

Might want to try a "Camel Back". They have ones that are insulated and can take ice.  They work great, best thing for hydration on the move. Can use it off the bike as well when site seeing.

This is what I use, my "sippie cup"  Ice stays cold from tank to tank ALWAYS cold even in 100 temps.  Even better off the ride cause I can tell my sweet baby bride I only had one cocktail!

Thermos brand makes "hydration" bottles will fit into the water bottle holders in the bags that go in front of the saddlebags; if you have those bags.

They remain cold.

My old lady can't go more than 100 miles without needing to take a piss break as it is. Last thing I need to do is let her drink while riding. I wouldn't be able to do legs longer than 50 miles at a pop...

better to stop every hour than to suffer from dehydration.  besides, is it the destination that matters or the trip?
