.  Probably even moreso here as most members don't even believe in ATGATT. Although I have been noticing a trend of local members to move up to full/flip face helmets.

What does ATGATT stand for?

My guess would be something like cover anything and everything you want to keep, proper riding boots, pants, long sleeves, gloves, full face helmet and so on.  Cover exposed skin.

I have long been the guy in a Skid lid, and sleeveless shirt.  Last summer I started wearing a mesh motorcycle jacket and gloves.  This winter I got my first ever 3/4 helmet.  Hated it the first few rides.  However its pretty nice now, have done a 2200 mile trip in it, sure was nice in the cold and snow.  Not sure how I will feel about it in the summer.

Thanks ULtrafxr I was not too sure what that stood for either.

Dave I have done the same, been riding street bikes since 77 always had cosmetic helmets until last year.  Some local Police Departments started checking helmets, they issue a ticket and make you park your scooter until you have a legal helmet to wear.  Kind of forced my hand and made me get a DOT lid to wear.   I purchased a flip up and a half.  You would think after 18 years in the fire service and 11 as a Paramedic I would have done it sooner but....    ;D

Hi Roger:
That's a great offer and I'm in!  :2vrolijk_21:
Let's see if we can get a practice session planned.  I'm not looking to be a stunt rider, but mostly to be able to control this bike and know its limitations.  That may come easy for some, but I have to work at it.
Ken, cool. I'll get in touch with you soon. Still waiting to get the Ultra back (told Jim not to hurry) but I can use the Suzuki. A friend of mine coaches one of the top three motor officer competitors in the western US. He's always Jones'n to help and show off and will come out with us sometime.  Roger

Do yourself a favor and attend this class http://www.midwestmotorcycletraining.com/ or one like it.  You don't use your own motorcycle because on the first day you will loose track of how many times you pick the police Road King up!  You can do it on your own bike but I don't recommend it!  The extra $200 to use their motorcycles (which are in excellent condition) is worth every penny.  Not only to you get very good a low speed maneuvers but you get really good at lifting an 800 pound motorcycle.  You will also learn a lot of other potentially life saving habits.  If you have been riding for some time you will first have to unlearn all your acquired bad habits.  The Ride Like a Pro DVD will give you some pointers but nothing can duplicate Midwest Police Motorcycle Training four days of hands on training.  Doug Wolf is a no nonsense professional who will turn you in to a competent rider of that heavy weigh motorcycle that is intimidating you!
That looks like a great school!.  I like the idea of a multi day course and that with experience and approval, you can challenge the primary class to jump ahead to the advanced class. I'll be giving them a call this year. Nice find and thanks for sharing!

Mark, Ha! As far as I'm concerned, any opportunity to beat you through a course is a good opportunity. You are getting no help from me my friend.
Or like in the Solvang slow race, I'll just cheat, get in front of you and push you to the curb. I may be pitiful, but I'm a winner  ;)  ;D

No problem.  Don't under estimate the primary course!  It's challenging and difficult to pass.  I have taken it twice and not passed!  But, I don't hesitate to make a u turn almost anywhere now.

U turns and challenges, two of my favorite things! One of my favorite crowd pleasing challenging u turns is pulling up to a wall until the front wheel touches and making an 18' u turn from there. Mark taught me that. Never thought it could be done and pretty scary the first time with the bags on.
Not downplaying the class at all as it looks quite comprehensive. I've just been taking classes and practicing on and off for over 4 years. I don't mind failing as much as I do drooping the Harley on a cone course though  :D It's all great fun

'Been riding my whole life~dirt then street~at least a couple of hundred thousand miles on the street~and had a chance to observe the demonstration at Leesburg 2 years ago~I really learned A LOT, just from listening and observing!!!

Does anybody know if/when any of these courses are available in Florida??

(Never to old to learn something)!

Maybe someone could post a link?
