"But what really burnt me up is he said Harley will not pay for warranty work if you don't use Harley oil.  That's BS too.  Amsoil is as good but really better than Harley oil, based on many wear tests.  And I know they can't deny warranty work just because I don't use Harley oil.  That's against Federal law.  But he even went as far as saying it's in the ESP contract.  (I looked over the ESP info this evening and I don't see anything about requiring Harley oil use)"

Cool, wonder if the Manager know this, From the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. If a manufacture states that "X" product must be used to maintain the warrenty then said manufacture must supply "X" product at no cost. Now that does not include labor. Not that i would pay for HD oil anyway but free is free.
Also:
The manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket or recycled part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage

It seems the service mgr was grasping at straws coming up with excuses...can only use HD oil or warranty is voided?  After being told lies like this could you ever trust them regarding anything? I'd look for another shop and let the owner of your current dealership know exactly why your taking your business elsewhere.

I'm seriously considering going to another shop about 25 miles out of the way.  I have heard others doing the same.  I was just trying to give the shop (that sponsors our Hog club) a chance at the work.  They did a good job on the work done in January, where lifter noise resulted in replacing lifters, push rods, cam and modified compensator lubrication fix.

What a PITA!
