To trade or not
« on: September 11, 2014, 10:30:03 AM »

Well thinking about trading my 14 CVO Limited for the 15 CVO RG. Dealer only offering me 30,084 trade for the Limited plus the tax savings of 6.25%.  They will sell  the 15 for MSRP plus freight. I wanted the trade difference to be around $7500-8500 but they aren't going for that. They are stuck on $10K difference plus tax, registration and my payoff. I still haven't seen the bike as the dealer is 6 hrs away from me. Said they would deliver the bike to me in my driveway with paperwork to sign.. I think they are short changing me on the trade. Its the Blue RG Ultra.. Oh boy what to do now..

CVO models take a BIG hit the 1st year and then average out over 3 years. I don't think they are lowballing you, given what market conditions are. They would have to try to resell your Ultra for 34K or more and most people buying a cvo have the few extra thousand to buy a brand new one. So your dealer will probably end up wholesaling it around 31-32K unless they have a buyer lined up for it.

If you are really wanting to change to the Road Glide, I would do it in a heartbeat. And since I bought all my new bikes from the same dealer I would ask for some other things like maybe include the 1K and 5K services, maybe some oil changes or discount on accessories, an in store gift card, etc

What I've learned from buying cvo's is to hold onto them for at least 3 years.... that way the hit isn's as dramatic

Good luck

True indeed. I'am just trying to get the best deal possible. i would ask for extras but the dealer is 6 hrs away from me so that's not feasible for 1K & 5K services. They do give you a gift card for $50.00 at time of purchase thou for shirts etc etc.  I told them my trade number i wanted & will see what happens, if not i will just keep mine..

if you are so inclined to want it, ask them to include the extended warranty.

Dealer said really didn't want the CVO Limited in trade says that they weren't real good sellers last year. Still has some used 11's & 12's,13's  CVO's.. Would rather i buy it out rite.. I managed to get the 1K service out of them...Still hagling but i don't think i'm gonna get anymore...

Well dealer wasn't wanting to budge much at all. So i just stepped back & am gonna keep my CVO Limited. Only offered to pay for the 1K service. WOW after buying 4 CVO's from them over the past 7 yrs & that's all they can do. Its like pulling teeth getting the 1K service from them... OH well

Most dealers aren't dealing too much on any Road Glides. They are the new hotness with the redesign and 1 year absence. The GM at my local dealer said the big boss told them no discounts on any RG's right now. Didn't stop him from giving me $1800 off MSRP, all freight and set-up waived, and a $300 gift card. He said he can justify it because I have bought 10 bikes from them over the years.

If you really want it shop around. See if you can get a better deal. And take that to them and see if they will match it. If not and another deal is to your liking buy it.

Sounded like a solid deal to me. I bought three CVO's plus one regular from my dealer 100 miles away. We were $3500 away on trade value. I ended up trading elsewhere for a much better deal, but in your case I can't see it getting much better considering them delivering the bike to your driveway and whatnot.

Sounds like a pretty good deal.  Most dealers are not dealing at all on the CVO RG Ultras.  Many are way over MSRP.  The dealer I use is an MSRP dealer and every one of his allocations are sold, plus deposits if he can get more.

Deal was OK. Figured could get a little better since i've bought 4 CVO's from them in the past 7 yrs. Still deciding if i wanna start all over again. Already paid almost 9K into this bike. Only thing i'm gaining is a newer RG fairing. From the fairing back is the same as my 2014 CVO Limited.

For 4 or 5 Grand and you can change that fairing out, get it painted and new bars if you want. Less if you can do the swap yourself. Then sell the batwing stuff and your outlay of funds goes down. Only problem I see is its a half breed and not a factory shark. Probably only matters if/when you sell or trade it. A plus its its a one off. I doubt you'll see another 1 like it.

The HD Demo truck was in town at the dealership. Were doing demo rides on Saturday & Sunday. I went in to see if i could ride the CVO RG Ultra since i wasn't going to be in town over the weekend. They agreed to let me ride it. Well we took off & first thing i didn't like was the handlebar position. Second it seemed to sit lower than my CVO Limited, it may have been that the shocks didn't have enough air in them. Third the wind buffeting was better than my current bike. The radio seemed to be clearer than mine at full volume. Overall it didn't impress me enough to trade my CVO Limited for it. It was a nice ride but just not the WOW factor i thought i would have to trade for it. They had one Blue CVO RG they just rolled out on floor & it was snatched up quickly. Anyways i'm just gonna keep mine & save the $$$$$$$$.  Thanx for all the replies.

I did till I rode it and realized it's the same bike minus the fairing.  It was nice but not worth the loss I was gonna take.  Maybe just wait another year and let someone do the upgrades and pickup for a savings over new one.  Maybe something in 2016.

Air pressure in shocks have nothing to do with ride height, air psi is only for load, shocks are fixed length. Not at all like a car/truck air shock which does get shorter or longer depending on air pressure, not so on HD.
