Seems they still have issues.

So far on mine Sometimes you have to shut the bike off and restart to get volume to work.
The speed compensation for volume, to turn it down when you come to a red light, does not work.
Time zone is screwed up for TN, thinks all of TN is central time zone.

Can not advance or go back a song,
Speed compensation for audio does not work.

Sorry, couldn't help myself on that one.  So sorry you are having issues with the new scooter.  Other than the litte issues with the headunit, how's the rest of the bike?  Glad you swapped the skunk?  Better/worse/indifferent on the new changes from your '12?  Can you see the difference in the new faring on the RG?  Inquiring minds want to know, brother.....

dang!! hope they get this ironed out soon, are they having the same software issues with all of these 6.5s or different random stuff?? on a side note my son works for a DODGE dealer and he has been chasing gremlins on a 2014 VIPER and is on the 9th BCM every time one gets changed it has another issues, so its not just us lucky CVO owners

Love the new road glide fairing, it really is improved.  There are many improvements from the 12 to the 15.  I miss the paint and lightness of the skunk, love the comforts of the new Ultra!

From what I have read the fix a bug or two in the head unit and introduce another.

Updated to latest firm ware, now it will not skip forward or backward on the songs on the media player.  speed volume now works only if you reset it every time you start the bike.  Not just the CVO's as my wife's road glide special has the same head unit issues.  All in all its a very nice head unit.

I am loving the new bike, if the head unit bugs are the only issue I will be very happy!

Found another very annoying issue with the head unit.  When you go through a tunnel it dims as it should, then when you come out it stays dim, some times for 30 mites, other times you have to turn the bike off then on to get it back to bright. 

Another issues is you will be riding along and the iPod will just stop and weather band comes on.  this has happened with two different iPods so I know its not them.  All you have to do when it stops is reselect media player and it works again.

Do not trust the way the GPS arrow shows you to turn, many times it tells you one way and shows another.  You have to figure out which one is right.

On the dimming issue if you have it on auto move it to manual setting. 
This helps for the issue you stated and some times some units have black screens cause of this setting.

On the weather band you have to turn it to off, but you can still use it by going to it manually.  When this is set to on
it will interrupt what ever you have in use.

Ok on the weather band, but the thing is, its the media player just drops out and stops playing.  I have had it drop out and start playing the radio also. 


Maybe taking the screen off auto will help before it goes dim.  Once it went dim, taking it out of auto and adjusting it manually did nothing.  Had to turn bike off then reboot system to get it to work.

This is a familiar story to me as a technical manager of systems and software development team. It points to insufficient functional and regression testing. Nothing any customer hates more is something that used to work not working after an upgrade is installed.... ARGH!

I have 2 consistent challenges (that I know of so far)....

1. I follow the directions in the manual to SAVE a POI. Last night first one saved although it looked as though it did not (ended up saving same one three times). Second POI I tried to load would not SAVE after 5 tries. Turned the accessory switch off, waited 10 seconds, turned it back on and then it saved. This occurred last night after I input the address, let it load, then clicked OPTIONS and scrolled to SAVE before clicking on GO per manual instructions. It also did this to me several times in MV while trying to save current position as a POI.

2. AVC - when I start out on the bike, the sound gets lower as I speed up and louder when I slow down (basically opposite of normal function) whether my AVC is OFF or on 4 bars. If I go back into the system and turn the AVC down to OFF then back up to 4 bars it works fine until I turn the bike off.

Anyone know what the number is on the latest update?

Also, how do I find out which version I have in my unit currently?

You can find the software version on your head unit. 

From Home menu go to Set up.  From set up go to System information, then select Software, it will show the current version.  Page 60 in boom box manual. 

Mine was delivered with 1.18.0.   Then at the 1K service it was updated to 1.18.1.  Which is still the most current version, but it is not available for down load any more.  My guess is HD knows it has more problems than 1.18.0 did.
