After having an S&S T124 installed in my '10 CUSE the cruise control rarely works in 5th gear now. It works fine in 4th or 6th, but only rarely works in 5th gear. I'm running the stock HD transmission. Anybody have an idea of what might be going on?

Assuming the bike has been retuned (new calibration) for the 124 install, depending on the tuning device you should be able to recalibrate the speedo to get cruise to reliably work.

Thanks for the idea. I'm using a TTS tuner and prior to the 124 install I had used it to correct the speedo to read true mph. Everything worked fine at that time. Guess I need to go back to my notes and see what the speedo calibration was back then and compare to what it is now. I don't know if the dyno operator may have tweaked it or not, but that seems like a possibility.

I did some riding over the weekend and found that if I'm off the throttle (going downhill), I can set the cruise control in 5th gear and it will work fine even when the bike starts to climb the next hill. But if I'm on the throttle at all (even just maintaining my speed on level ground) the cruise won't engage in 5th gear. I don't remember if I checked 3rd gear, but in 4th and 6th the cruise control works normally. 

Strange stuff! There has to be a reason! Guess I'll have to get further into this...

If you like hook up to the bike and save a copy of the current calibration from the ECM. This will be an *.MTE file and  email to me and I can take a look at it. Maybe I could find something for you but do not know for sure.
