Garmin 660 Map Missing Roads
« on: September 22, 2014, 08:54:23 PM »

On more than a couple occasions, I ride on paved roads that don't even show on the map.   I did update the map in the spring and these paved roads have been here for years.  Anyone else?

Yeah, have had exactly that happen, plus dumb weird stuff:  Tells me to make a left turn, and half-block later says make a u-turn.  Another: tells me turn at second right (first right actually goes to destination) and 2 blocks later says turn right and go off-road across strip of desert cut by gullies and ravines and blocked by a fence.  Also had it pass the correct exit from freeway so it could send me down a farther exit and backtrack to destination.  I verified that the first exit would have worked, and all roads were open.

Some of these problems are with NavTeq (the maps), and some are with Garmin's algorithms (the routes).  Some would be funny if not at the end of a 700 mile day with 5 bikes following.

I have been using a Garmin of one version or another since May of 2005 every day, Never, Ever experienced any of the problems you all have. I do the updates 4 times yearly, I have read on this forum all kinds of problems a others have had with updates but mine have all been easy, In my opinion the best product of this century so far.  We have 5 including a Road Tech 660, a voice programable 2500 series in addition to older ones that we loan to guests . Just wanted to voice my findings that not everyone has problems.

Another disappointment, typing in a address or other, the response to the keys are really slow.  I had had a garmin on my other bike, not happy with it, and this bike came with it, and still not happy.  TomTom so much better and less money.
