2003 Screaming Eagle Road King
« on: September 26, 2014, 11:31:46 PM »

Hi,

I am looking at possibly purchasing a 2003 Screaming Eagle Road King with a little over 20k miles on it. The asking price is $11K.
The bike looks to be in overall very good shape, except for one of the hard bags that must have fallen off and is scuffed up a little on the bottom and a little on the top. It is of course gold in color. It has a few customizations to it, but not much - turn signals moved to handle bar, highway pegs..
I will try to attach a picture.
Please let me know your thoughts on the price and the bike.
Thanks,

Andy

Here is another one on ebay that I have looked at. It is a 2002 and it just doesn't seem to have as many nice features as the other one. Pretty big price difference though:

The ebay bike is NOT a Screamin' Eagle (CVO) bike; that's why it's not as nice and doesn't cost as much.  SE heads by themselves don't make it a CVO.

I bought one of these in '03.  Other than a minor issue with the cruise control, it never gave me any problems.  l aways regretted not being able to keep it.  BTW, the turn signals were mounted on the bars from the factory.  It came with a very low profile tinted windshield that looked good, but was useless.  It took a while to get accustomed to the beach bars.  The wheels are highly polished aluminum and were a bitch to take care of.

I traded mine in on a new 2010 SESG.  My SERK was immaculate and I got  $13,800 on the trade.  $11k might be a little high for a 12 yr old bike.

I paid more for mine last summer with 6800 miles and in excellent condition, a bike I always wanted and I don't regret it!! Just over 12k miles now and no problems, knock on wood! I don't think $11k is a bad price, Kelly and NADA show $13 - $14 in excellent condition to $10 low retail, cycle trader lists some 2003's, some more - some less.

I paid $16,000 for mine a few years ago but it had a lot of extras like a six speed transmission and stage 4 kit on the motor. I added a few thing and love the bike. The only problem I've had is the ignition circuit breaker went bad.

Always liked that model.  Can you negotiate for the cost of repairing the bag?   :nixweiss:

Polished aluminum does have to be polished but it's easy with the right tool:
