Is the SE intake that came on the bike considered hi flow?  Do I need to change it when I change my exhaust and add fuel management?

I'm a big fan of the K&N Filter system.
When they came out with one for my ride, I jumped on it!

Nothing wrong with the "paper" type filter.

But all my trucks, bikes, etc have them!

You don't have to change yours but I do recommend it.

The washable paper element that comes with the bike is fine and I personally wouldn't throw it away just to replace it with the K&N element.  Once the paper element reaches it's useful life limit, by all means buy the K&N replacement rather than another stock element if you like.  The price is similar.

Sorry, I should of mentioned, mine was a year old at the time. Like I said said nothing wrong with the stock one, but just a fan of the K&N filters.

The stock element is washable, so every 5k miles or so you wash it per the instructions, let it dry, and reinstall.  Eventually it will either get discolored enough you don't like the dirty brown color or perhaps the material will start to wear and fray, at which time you will then need to buy a replacement element.  You could buy another stock type if that's what you want, or you could buy the K&N oiled gauze element they make to fit that air cleaner.

If you meant change the actual air cleaner, not just the element, to a different style, then no you don't need to do that unless you just want to.

NOT hi-flow by my standards.  ::)

Any of the Kuryakyn Mach 2 series, or Harley Davidson's Extreme Billet Kits.
We used a Harley Davidson Extreme Billet series on "CVO Stu's" engine, and had to richen up the map re: the more air it flowed. Most of my builds leave here with one of the above.  Dyno proven.  ;)

The words High Flow mean different things to different people. The factory CVO filter housing is not High Flow in my book but the element flows well. It all depends on what you are looking to get out of your bike! If all your going to do ride it as supplied by HD it's fine. Put an exhaust on it less cat and it's still OK. Add a camshaft to the mix and now your starting to get in trouble and adding a K&N to it doesn't fix it. So, as long as you ride like most people do which is idle to 3500 most of the time, it's fine, but if you want bragging rights and a dynosheet to produce the most, your going to need to switch it out.

Yup got it...  I am definitely the 0 to 3500 RPM guy.  Don't know if that is a bad thing or not and whether some may say I should have just bought a Limited in that case but, I think I got the most bang for the buck in the CVO.  I may either have the cat taken out of the stock pipes or add the power duals and have a tune to clean it up and that should get me where I want to be.
