    • CVO1: 2013 Break Out
Xenon bulb Melted connector
« on: September 30, 2014, 08:47:29 AM »

I just want to offer a lesson learned. A year ago, I installed a xenon bulb due to the horrible stock light that came with the CVO Break Out. It was much brighter than the original and had a good light pattern. The HD Dealer had suggested it and it seemed like a great 18$ upgrade.

A year later it burnt out. I was not too surprised because the package even claimed that it burns brighter and hotter so they will not last as long. The high beam only burnt out so I rode it to a gas station and had an extra bulb.

The xenon melted the plastic on the connector to the point I had to get the failed bulb out in peices. I only had the tools to replace a bulb but was able scrounge up enough tools to temp fix it and get it working. I did some research and I guess there is a "heat block" available somewhere that goes between the bulb and connector to stop the destruction.

I have since bought and installed a day maker. The dealer knew nothing of the heat block for the Xenon and gave me a new connector.
