I'm thinking of upgrading from the Standard Package to the Deluxe Package. It's $19.95, which is cheap, but is it worth it? Anyone have experience with this program?

Have only had two experiences with it in all my years. They were prompt, courteous, careful and somewhat cool people.  No hits, no runs, no scratches...you know the drill.  Have had towing/roadside assistance on my insurance for years but opted for HOG assistance.  Is it worth it?  Oh yeah.

I have the Deluxe Package.  Since I take long trips often, I figure if I break down it could very likely be far from a HD dealer.  The tow could be well over $200 easy.  My friend just last month had a $300 tow bill and it really wasn't that far from the HD dealer.  The Standard package only pays up to $100.  And the Standard Package is only good once during a year.  The Deluxe Package allows multiple tows in a year.

Is this roadside assistance available through HOG or HD? Or is it part of my extended warranty package?

I have had it for years myself and only had to use it once. New 2014 CVO Breakout hit by a girl backing out of a parking spot without looking. I was just minding my bizzness driving through my bank parking lot at maybe 2 mph. Then from my right backs out this girl slamming my bike to the ground. I ended up hurting my back when my dumb self tried to hold it up as she was backing over it. The guy that came to pick it up was not from Harley like I had thought it would have been. He had a very dirty strap that he thought he was going to run through my back wheel with nothing between nice nice wheel and that strap. Luckly I called the Bride who was close by with my truck and had some clean rags in it to wrap around the strap webbing. Other than that it wasnt to bad. The guy was cool and we had a few laughs to ease the pain of my new ride being taken back to where I bought it for repair.

One other thing, the Deluxe package covers two bikes.  So for $19.95 both my bike and my wife's bike is covered.

In 2003 I bought a Deuce and I got roadside for a year. About a month after owning it I ran over a banding strap. Called roadside and in about 2 minutes I got a call from the local HD dealer letting me know their guy was on the way.

I was wondering this myself

I have roadside assistance through:
ESP
HOG
Insurance

Had a dead battery and call the Insurance (Foremost) and they did a good job.

Had a flat tire and called ESP and they sent a guy with a trailer to pick me up, but we had a problem with where they told him to trailer me.  The closest HD dealer was 35 miles...but they were not open on Sundays and since it was Saturday afternoon that would not work for me.  The next closest dealer that was open on Sunday was 85 miles.  I got pinched for the tow.

Never used the trip interuption...would be interested to hear if any one has used theirs.

I had to use the standard HOG twice in the last 3 yrs. The first time no problem, great job. The 2nd time I was a few miles beyond their standard distance and was told it would cost me an up grade. I decided to use my AAA Plus which covers motorcycles instead, which got my bike to my local dealership through the pouring rain. I have standard towing through AMA as well, but never used them.

Had 2 experiences with them.....first one was when my wife broke down in Delaware....they were nice and has her picked up in an hour and I followed the flatbed to the local dealer. The second was on the way home from Maggie Valley last week. They put me on hold and left me there for a long time.......I hung up to call my friend to come get me. The problem was they never called me back to see why we were disconnected!. I guess for $20/year I will still keep it just in case.

Used the ESP trip interruption once, it maxed out at $300, didn't cover all the expenses, but it took some of the sting out of it... It was send in receipts, wait on reimbursement.

I tried to use the HOG roadside assistance several years ago and had a horrible experience.  I was in a small town about 125 miles from home and they had difficulty finding anyone to tow my motorcycle.  When he finally arrived after many hours he was very ill equipped to handle my ultra.  He was expecting to tow a Honda Rebel - wtf?  Luckily it was 'only' a dead battery and after spending the night in a motel I was able to have my daughter buy a battery and bring it to me.

Most recently I had to have a tow and used my AAA (I added motorcycle coverage a couple years ago) and it was great.  Plus AAA will tow you anywhere you like up to 100 miles at no charge.  Most others will only tow to the nearest dealer and some have a mileage limit of 35 miles - after that you pay the extra mileage.

So for me AAA is definitely the way to go and they also have trip interruption coverage for motel, meals, rental car, etc.
