Sena 20 blue tooth units
« on: October 01, 2014, 05:25:20 PM »

Looking for feed back on this system or one that is off the same level. Wife is now wearing a half helmet and I wear a FC and the head sets would be nice. Any feed back would be great thank you.

I just got a Sena not the 20 but the one before that, I use it in a Shoe Neotec. I am pretty impressed with the performance so far. Go to the Revzilla website and you can read a bunch a decent reviews on the Sena.

The 20 S is great. We have had them all year. Full face helmets.  Easy to work. the sound is much better than the Scala G4 we had before . Better battery life.       Billy

I just returned a set of Sena 10 after trying them for 3600 miles. They had some major
problems I had them on Half helmets The vox would just stay open and with wind above about 40 miles an hour the mike boom would move around alot and make a lot of squeaky  noise we just shut them off  a lot.  There was very little adjustment for the vox and mike sensitivity. I have just installed a set of Uclear 200's have not had a chance to road test  yet they have very good reviews so I hope they will work. I operate a 2way radio shop  so I may be a bit critical but do know how these radios should work and Sena's did not. They may work with a full face.  Good luck Read Read Read

I really love my Sena headsets.  They pair easily with my iPhone for music and work awesome bike to bike.  The wife and I both have them.  We actually spend more time talking while on the bikes than while off the bikes.  Really helps the wife calm down to know what the road conditions before she hits them as I can relay what's coming up.  With every cent. I got mine through eastern performance for like $220 for a pair.

Thanks for all the info thus far keep it coming. I have used other head sets for racing in the sand rail and PCI race radio was the brand,..  still a dealer for them. But its nothing like what is used on the motor cycles.  and a VOX that is acting frustrating.

I have been searching for a radio that will stream A2DP ... OUT which on a bike makes sense. If you have a blue tooth head set with speakers int he helmet why not stream the radio into the helmet. VS adding a amp better speakers to have the radio louder to hear at 75 MPG over the winde, Ex and into the helmet..

Here is what I am doing I will be adding a double din pioneer radio into the RG with built in Nav and XM.   I have a blue tooth Ipod but that defeats the idea of just using the radio with endless stations.

Your radio Bluetooth needs to output the "music" with  a "HSP" profile.
HSP = headset profile. If the radio doesn't have it then you get phone functions but not music to your helmet.

At least with my previous Cardo set and my current nolan B+ N-Com helmets.

Would be interested in hearing how the Uclears work for you. I was looking at those but another forum member on a different forum was not happy with the set he purchased and returned them.

Check the radio's Bluetooth specs. There should be a slew of acronyms besides the A2DP. Music streaming to the helmet may need the HSP profile.

I'm guessing manufacturers don't add the HSP to car audio for the obvious - not using headsets while driving.

I mentioned this to DickW at MV, I think he was supposed to check the Sena specs regarding streaming music.

My experience is with my current and past Sony audio units and Cardo and Nolan BT kits.

I spoke with Pioneer direct they told me that the radio will not stream out. Now I was using crutchfield to sort the units by the options and that is not an option ( HSP) that is listed and I do not see it.. But like I said for a motorcycle is is a no brainer

Well I got the new Sena for half helmets. As mentioned they do make some weird noises but the clarity is good and also found the intercom stayed open due to wind or if you accelerate your pipes will open up the intercom. I found it better if you listen to the music through the system the helmet rather than from the bike. I also thought I would try the new Uclear for half helmets but found them to be terrible for half helmets. I think they could be good for full face. The Uclear has 2 microphones that go under the lining in the upper part of the helmet. I find they create pressure points on your head. Also when using the intercom it seems to echo a lot. Found with both systems over 60 they are useless. I think the best use for any intercom would be a full helmet or even a shield.

I found that wrapping the mic with fine soft cloth stops the vox issues at least it worked in a wide open sand rail with the mic out in front.

My "workaround" that worked until I upgraded the nolan software was to BT connect my iPhone to the radio. Use the radio to control the iPhone music, using the handlebar controls to set volume and song skipping etc. I then used a hardwired input. I added a "jumper" to the rear speaker output of the radio that then connected to the helmet with a stereo mini plug.

The phone still worked with BT for phone use and the music played through the cord - so half wireless.

"The Ball & Chain" and I have the Cardo Q3 Teamsets. Are happy with them!

Great Sounding A2DP Stereo Sharing from the iPhone, good vox adjustability (of off the easy to use Cardo web site)

I also liked the Cardo ability to plug in any ear buds or speakers (3.5mm jack), although the speakers that come with the Cardo sound good enough that I see no need to try anything else..

Still haven't got the phone call portion dialed in (while on the road) since I haven't played with that feature enough to get the volume level set properly

I also had a switched headphone jack installed in the HK by Iron Cross Audio because the Cardo has the ability to plug in. 'Haven't tried this yet since the Bluetooth from the phone sounds great.

Great Customer Service from Cardo and from Revzilla where we purchased :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:
