Boom Audio Problems
« on: October 15, 2014, 01:23:33 PM »

I have 2500kms on my new 15' CVO Road Glide Ultra. I have owned it just short of a month. From the second day of ownership the stereo has not functioned properly. Right fairing speaker crapped out and the stereo cuts out totally for 1-2 seconds intemittently. Tried different settings, AVC is off, and at highway speeds sometimes can hardly hear it. It will cut out at idle, on accessory, or at highway speeds. Of course the dealer says if there is no code they can't warranty it. What a bunch of BS. Has anyone else had this issue with the new Glides?

I tried the AVC at different settings and didn't hear a noticable difference. It could very well be the stereo is not functioning correctly. Have you noticed any problems with yours at all?

had a 14 cvo limited for 2 months nothing but problems with the radio.  They really must not have tested these before they put them in the bikes.

Turn the AVC all the way off and then immediately back on after starting the bike. If it helps, you will need to do this after each shutdown/startup until we get a new working update for the radio.

Thanks for that tip, I will be doing that. They flashed for the rear speaker update, when it was in for service but it didn't help.

Do you have a CB on your bike?  If so check to see if is on.  I had that issue with my 2014 I bought about 3 weeks ago.

That's a very good point.

I took delivery of 2015 CVO Limited a week ago and the volume through the speakers is great at standstill but reduces to barely audible when you start riding. Found the AVC was off so turned it on to max but no difference really. Running Software V 1.18.0 and was wondering if I upgraded to V 1.18.2 would that fix the problem? Will try the above solution tomorrow when I go for a ride. Everything else seems to be working OK at present.

Same problem on my 2015 SG CVO. Like a previous poster said, have to start bike, go to audio settings, turn off fade, then turn on again. Will really help the sound, BUT it will not fade like all my other bikes do. BTW, I did install version 18.2 and it did not solve this problem.

On my 2011 right speaker kept cutting off at different times, put focals on Same problem ,called Pete and he asked me to check speaker wire coming from fairing sure enough after 2 years of problems of right side cutting out no one ever checked the speaker wire, was two short and every time I backed the bike out of the garage and made a hard turn backwards was wearing  out the speaker wire coating and exposed the wires and kept shorting out ,Added 4 more inches of wire in the fairing problem solved.Pete said they had two short of wire on the right side coming from the fairing, pull the wire while stereo is on  a few times if speker on right side cuts out, that is the problem,I pulled it out about half inch from the fairing and seen the problem also, exposed wire.

The XM works well on my '15...my problem is that all of the preset stations revert back to weather band when I shut the bike off. Sometimes they stay, but most of the time they are all gone.....

Version 1.18.2 does not solve most the issues.  Many of these issues are 15 months old and still not corrected.

There are at least 8 things I know that do not work correctly
AVC  have to turn off and on to get it to work each time you start bike
CB  have to turn off and on to get to work each time you start bike
Phone to helmet speaker have to turn off and on to get it to work each time you start bikeRear Speakers
Auto reply to text never works
Read Text never works
Time zone for east tn
Auto dimming does not come back bright
iPod drops out and goes to weather
and there are many more.

Really no excuse for such crappy soft ware after 15 months!

Had the same problem with my 15 RGS. After a bunch of me bitching about it I asked the Dealer to install software version 1.17.4, mine had the 1.18.2.

That is one of the early versions in 2014 that I know worked well. Radio sounds awesome now except for the AVC not working but I'll take it while Moco figures it out. Took about 15 min.
