I'm not gonna miss you.
« on: October 16, 2014, 07:09:24 AM »

Been a fan most of my life and this song just breaks my heart, especially since my Mom had Alzheimer and couldn't recognize me when she passed away. So long Glen and thanks for the music and the memories.

Alzheimer's is insidious - sorry for your loss. Glen can sure get it right...

My pop has it.  Already posted this in another thread but I got to visit with him this past weekend.  He's holding his own but not the same since the last visit.  His long term memory is just as sharp as ever but the rest isn't going well.  He's 77 and has a great, kind, godly woman taking care of him (his wife of 30 plus years).
We had a good day last Friday.  He had lost some of it before I headed out on Saturday morning.  Devastating disease for the person and the family.  I've got to leave this in the Lord's hands.

My pop....

Cam, so sorry for the loss of your mother and how she passed.  I know this is our future with pop.  Prayers with you and your family, brother.

As you know, you have to remember and focus on the good times.  My dad and I haven't had the most loving father/son relationship over the years.  This is not the place to go into any of that but I will post this picture he keeps close and "visits" often.  One of the better times in our history.....

Sorry to hear of your loss Cam. And good luck to you Haird and your Dad as you navigate your way through this. I remember seeing this with my grandfather as a young adult. It didn't affect me as much then as it did my parents. But as I've gotten older I realize more the effects this has on loved ones. All we can do is take each day as it comes, hope there are more good days than bad ones, and celebrate the good ones

It is certainly an insidious disease and I can't imagine the pain and suffering families go through; breaks me down thinking of it as does the other illnesses our body's are subject to.

My thoughts and prayers go out for you both Cam and Haird.

Sorry for your loss Cam, definitely not an easy thing to go through.  I remember how it affected my dad with his father many years ago and saw many families deal with it when I worked in a hospital.

Let's be thankful for what we have.

Very sorry for your loss, Cam.  And sympathies to Haird.  My Grandmother also suffered from Alzheimers but fortunately, did not show serious symptoms until her 90`s.

Glen is and was a true gentleman though he had his demons.  I met him when I was seven.  Before he became a star, he was the top session player in Hollywood / Los Angeles.  My Mom sang locally and had met Buck Owens who produced some singles and ep's for her.  Glen was the session leader on these recordings and was as nice as could be.  In the nineties and later,  he could often be found at the Paradise Cove Restaurant in Malibu on their jazz nights.  I talked with him a couple of times and he remembered Mom and was kind to me.  I last saw him perform in 2011 with his son and daughter at a fund raiser for military families.

Jimmy Webb, who wrote many of Glen' hits (and the 5th Dimension) has been touring with Johnny Rivers (Secret Agent Man, Memphis, Summer Rain).  They both tell some great stories about Glen (and others) in their show.  Definitely worth catching if the opportunity arises.

Thanks guys. One day we will have a cure for this thing like we do for many other ailments. Hopefully sooner than later.

Sorry to hear of your loss CAM. And yes Haird good luck to you and you dad.

The only thing I think that suxx worse than getting old yourself is watching a parent or loved one age less than gracefully - I myself am dealing with some tough issues with my Pops as I'm sure many of us are..... or will someday....
It will have a tendency to depress the he** out of you if you don't find an outlet for the frustration to get you mind off it if only for a short few moments, or have another strong shoulder to lean on and of course your faith - not necessarily in that order.

I have never had this disease strike my family...so I cannot even begin with the I feel your pain or I know what your saying or going through rhetoric because I do not...I could not begin to imagine what it must be like. However I do wish the good Lords blessing upon you and all of your loved ones. It saddens me to even read this topic but I hope through it, you all find some peace. Out of respect to all of you I will refrain from opening this post again...keeping my stupid comments to myself. But you are all in my prayers.
Stay Safe...and Stay Strong!!!
