Sena 20S Bluetooth Headset
« on: October 31, 2014, 01:07:54 PM »

Anybody been using the Sena 20S Bluetooth Headset? I'd like to use this with my iPhone for audiobooks/music and was hoping to get some current rider information since the company issued firmware updates. Any insight would be appreciated.

We love the headsets. The sound is great. I have not hooked up to a phone other than to talk though., I have had scala 's before and these are much better. Billy

Thanks Billy - if these work as well as advertised it would be outstanding. Think I'll buy one or a pair for use in the 2015 riding season.

Audio books, what a great idea when doing long distances.

I have been looking at this idea also, but am concerned about the battery life .  I had and older set and they would last about 6 hours.  I want something that will last a full 12 hours of continuous use.  I do listen to audio books when riding and use the intercom and GPS audio output from my Garmin continuously.  Will the battery hold up?  Thanks

I listen to audiobooks frequently and plan to set my scoot up for this purpose over the winter, probably with a 20S system and iPhone combination. I recognize I'm in the minority, but I wouldn't spend a lot of cash to upgrade the entertainment system - amp/speakers, etc. I've spent way too much on various other mods though and doubt that will stop. The 20S headset speakers are supposedly far superior to earlier versions, so piping the audio into my helmet works okay for me.

There are multiple users reviews on line dep47, but the jury is out on battery life. One review indicated 13 hours 'talk time' on a charge, but it hadn't been tested towards longevity. The headset can be charged on the fly as you ride if doing a long day. This would entail a wire to the headset but may be doable.

The battery will not last 12 hours under continuous use. I have a USB charging port in my TourPack and when we stop for lunch I usually pop it on charge to help extend the life. But if you want 12 hours continuous usage, you might think about keeping it on a USB cord while still attached to the helmet in usage.

We have used the Sena 20 S for more than 12 hours with turning them off for lunch. But we are just using intercom. not sure with all day music and books. Billy

Don't know if anyone is looking at a Sena 20S headset purchase now, but Revzilla has them on sale. With some credit from a recent helmet purchase I bought one for just over $200.
