I just stuffed a absorbent pad  under the oil filter then took off. All the oil stayed on the absorbent pad. No oil on the bike...

Then there is the side, most aftermarket filters are 10 micron (the same that HD was when the Twin Cam came out) 5 micron IMO is to small which can cause the filter to go into a bypass mode during cold or thick oil situations. I stick to the 10 micron myself.

I have to disagree a out the filter going into bypass mode as described. If it went in to bypass mode that would mean every square mm of paper element is plugged with solids. If thats the case the motor or its servicing owner has some issues. I have done extensive testing on commercial oil testing and disagree on most of the rationale of forum experts on oil filtration. Not all will agree but after 30 years of doing this I feel I have a good understanding of proper filtration.
