FLHTCUSE8 Battery empty after 14 days
« on: November 03, 2014, 07:02:38 AM »

HI there
Have some issues with my cvo 2013 Ultra. Have the second battery now and after 14 days no riding it is dead.
The bike draws abt 65-70mA on cuttent with everything off.

Does somebody know what the milliamp drwtest says abt this type?

My dealer tries to convince me that it has so much electronics it is a normal issue. My 2008 Ultra still have enough juice to start after a month inactivity.

Regards

I don't have a manual for a 2013 model so I can't say what the milliamp draw should be, but I certainly hope your dealer has all the manuals.  Have him haul it out and give you a copy of the chart that tells exactly how much each component should normally draw when everything is powered down.

Most folks are used to this and just keep their bikes on a battery tender whenever they don't intend to ride every day.  While it shouldn't be necessary for short periods of a week or two, it is the lesser evil of constantly finding a dead battery when you finally want to go for a ride.  If your milliamp draw meets the specifications in the manual, H-D isn't going to do anything for you so you need to look out for your own interests.

There is something wrong!... I have the same bike and sometimes it sits for weeks and I don't have any problem so far.  Of course during winter season I put a tender on.

I rotate the battery charger through all three of my bikes year 'round; all of them are still on original battery ('07, '08, '11).  8 years on a battery.   :)
