2014/15 CVO LIMITED vs 2015 CVO ROAD GLIDE ULTRA (BAT vs SHARK)
« on: November 03, 2014, 05:35:08 PM »

I have a 14 CVO Limited, liking the look of the 15 CVO RGU in the red, but have never rode a shark.

Has anyone had experience with both these Rushmore model bikes?
Differences?

You'll surely get some first hand experience replies, but you really need to go ride one.

Well i had a 2011 CVO RG Ultra. Got a wild hare & bought the 2014 CVO Limited. Sold the 11 CVO. When the 2015 RG came out i traded the 14 limited for the RG.. The RG rides so much smoother in my opinion. No wind buffeting or getting blasted by passing vehicles. I'am not changing bikes again... You need to ride one to see if you like it thou.. Not everyone likes the fixed fairing.

I am doing research for a possible purchase in 2016 or 2017. I have not road the RG yet but I have spoke to a couple of people who have owned both and the general opinion is that the shark nose handles better than the batwing which is believed to be because of the weight of the shark nose being supported by the frame and not onto the forks/front suspension as is the case of the batwing. For what thats worth.

I have the 2015 CVO RGU and I must say that I absolutely hate the ride. I've been riding for over 30 years and this is the worst suspension I have ever had on, well anything.

From what I can see, everything on the RGU is the same as the Limited except the fairing/dash.

Yes, I have organized a ride on a RG special this week, cannot get test rides on CVO's down here in Australia.
It looks like the RG special has a different shield to the CVO RGU so may not be the same ride.

Exact same crappy air suspension on the CVO Limited and CVO RG Ultra......

You are correct.  The ride for me on the Special was horrible due to the windshield on the special.  The ride on the Ultra is great.  Special the wind beat me up bad, tons of wind noise in my hears could not hear the sound system above 45 mph.  The Ultra I can hear the sound system just fine at 80 mph, and no wind noise.

I have since 09 been a Road Glide guy, on my 3rd now have just over 90K miles on them between the 3 bikes.

My wife just switched from street glides, she had two with about 84K between the two of them.  She is now on a road glide special.  She still does not like the looks of the RG.  Her reason for the switch was the RG had a lighter feeling front end, it was easier to ride in the curves felt less weight on her neck and shoulders, less fatigue after a 600 mile day.

I am sure there were those who did not like the looks of the batwing when it was first introduced.  I was not real thrilled about the RG when it first appeared but it has grown on me.

i had the 2014 cvo limited and due to engine and everything else wrong  with it traded it for the cvo road glide.  I I've had 4 different bat wing bikes so i thought id try a shark out.  Really with the fixed fairing i really don't notice it not turning with the handlebars  I'm not looking at it in a turn anyway.  The buffeting is so much less on the shark also I can finally read road signs when i ride.  It does feel lighter in the front end because of the fixed fairing.   I really love the new bike for what thats worth.

Like they say...to each their own.  I think the King windshield is not very attractive compared to the bat and shark.  To me the shield on the King looks as if it was an after thought...like the MoCo designers forgot to add the windshield then just slapped one on off the shelf.  It does not follow the lines of the bike very well like the bat and shark does.  And because it does not follow the lines of the bike they had to add a vent so as to help with all of the turbulence the big non-aerodynamic sheild created.  I never owned one but had two long test rides on a 2014 and 2015. I was not impressed with either.
Just my opinion...for what its worth.
Enjoy your new scoot.
Stay Safe!!!
