If you had the recall done you should be good. Most guys (not all) can get 20K out of these with out touching anything. Its a Harley, you have to ignore some of the sounds they make and just ride em. Once you go in, follow all the advice given in this thread. That includes softer valve springs as mentioned by ProDrag. Valve spring pressure is what truly separates the 103s and the 110s in terms of valve train life in my HO, others may disagree.. Other than piston diameter, valve size and valve spring pressure, the 103 and 110 are the same motor with all the same rattles.

Thanks .. I am just being a B***H. This isnt my first Harley, just my first 110. I wouldnt really have paid much attention to the ticking, but after reading all the doom and gloom, it started to bug me. Not to mention, sometimes at around 2kRPM, I can hear valve chatter that sounds a lot like valve float. So needless to say this added fuel to the fire. I will be replacing the lifters with GMR lifters and installing the S&S Quickie pushrods over the winter. I will deal with the other crap when it happens.. Oh well.. This time next year, I will eat the negative equity and trade in on a SG...LOL
